00:00Now we give instructions.
00:02Look, my ears are good.
00:04If you want to touch close, do it now.
00:06God bless.
00:08You know what you're gonna get in an Andres Cortes fight,
00:11and that is two fighters who are going to engage,
00:15and Salvador Jimenez, he says,
00:17I didn't make this trip all the way from Spain
00:20to just give it up.
00:22My life changed when I started boxing at age 14.
00:25I was causing trouble on the street,
00:27and thanks to boxing, I have a future,
00:30and I can do something for my family.
00:33So, both fighters with a lot at stake,
00:35but it's Cortes who's undefeated
00:37and really needs to take that next step in his career.
00:42It's been a little while since we've seen Cortes.
00:47Last fight that you mentioned.
00:51He was an ideal to fight Suarez,
00:54who's gonna be in the main event tonight.
00:55That could have been very well been him.
00:57Fight for the world championship
00:58and get down for that thing.
00:59However, things happen.
01:01That would have been in September of 2024.
01:03Last time we saw him was in against Abraham Nova,
01:06who's also always in very close fights,
01:08and that fight went Cortes' way.
01:13That could have gone either way.
01:14Absolutely.
01:15We're gonna see what he can do tonight.
01:16You guys are a savvy boxer inside the ring tonight in a minute.
01:24You can tell he's a waiter.
01:27Sits and wait on openings.
01:28A waiter.
01:29Yeah, he's a waiter, man.
01:31That's what he is.
01:32Well, you know, we got plumbers.
01:33We got electricians.
01:34We got everything.
01:35So, we're like Uber drivers.
01:36You know, that's a term to describe a fighter.
01:39However, you know what?
01:40Inouye did fight an Uber driver.
01:42A Lyft driver.
01:43Oh, it's a Lyft.
01:44Okay.
01:45Get it right, player.
01:46Hey, but you know what?
01:47Much props to the number of Cardenas.
01:49My man, save the week.
01:50Yeah, Cardenas was off the chain, man.
01:51In a way, even better.
01:53So, absolutely.
01:55Yeah, waiters, they like to sit on the outside.
02:02They like to pick their spots.
02:04You know, they look for openings.
02:06They look to make their opposition pay like that.
02:09Saw a lazy jab.
02:10Boom.
02:11Came around with a right hand.
02:13Cortez got away from it, but the left hook before that landed.
02:16But you just understand what I'm saying.
02:18Yeah.
02:19We saw that earlier tonight in one of her fights where you had
02:24Christian Medina waiting on Alan Garcia to make a mistake.
02:28Yes.
02:29And he did make a mistake, and he paid for it twice in that fight.
02:32Came away with the unanimous decision win.
02:35But those are the shaky moments that you get when you're in against the waiter.
02:40Absolutely.
02:41And that high guard that Cortez has not been able to penetrate as of yet.
02:46And the high guard is a highly used guard.
02:53In boxing, to be honest with you, it's a terrible guard to be used.
02:58I mean, not unless you're trying to bait your opposition.
03:02You know, and usually when you see guys tuck up into the high guard,
03:06they want you to punch at their guards.
03:08They're looking for you to do something to be able to open you,
03:12basically open yourself up for a counter.
03:16Oh, that was shot to the back of the head as Jimenez was scurrying away.
03:24Now you see the guard change.
03:25Oh, nice right hand there from Cortez.
03:28At the bell.
03:31And the body a little bit more, but just like that, bro, we got 10 rounds.
03:34How do you feel?
03:35It's really hard.
03:36We want him to do that.
03:37Take him off this off.
03:39Beautiful.
03:40Keep jabbing them.
03:41All the hard punches off the jab, okay?
03:43Keep staying smooth and take your time.
03:46It's going to come.
03:48Hide the power.
03:49No uppercuts in the body shots, okay?
03:50It's part of investing in the body a little bit more.
03:52But don't reach.
03:53Just what you're doing is beautiful.
03:55You're not getting hit at all.
03:57Great.
03:58Exactly.
03:59Good, champ.
04:02Keep making them get frustrated.
04:04Don't let them hit you, but stay alive, okay?
04:06And stay off the ropes.
04:07We don't need to be there.
04:08Okay.
04:09Almost wait.
04:10Stay relaxed.
04:11Sharp, bro.
04:12Sharp.
04:13You saw the graphic there.
04:15I like that.
04:16His brother Luis Cortez, who is his trainer,
04:18defeated Jose Ramirez and Oshaki Foster.
04:21eventual world champions while an amateur.
04:24So, you know, that's the big question here, Tim.
04:27You know, a lot of times they say those who can't do teach.
04:30Well, his brother Luis could fight.
04:33Absolutely.
04:34He could fight, but he didn't have the discipline.
04:37But, you know, just that minute inside that corner,
04:40I mean, he told his brother great advice.
04:42And the most important thing that I took from that corner was
04:45the defense.
04:46The defense, the defense, the defense, the defense.
04:49And he told them, man, take your time.
04:51We got ten rounds to go.
04:52We got ten rounds.
04:53Don't need to rush.
04:54We're going to set up the shot.
04:56But keep attacking that body like he's doing there.
04:59And once he starts to attack that body, those hands will start to drop.
05:02Little by little.
05:04That's one way to lower that high guard.
05:07Yes.
05:10See, a menace now.
05:11He's changing guards every so often now.
05:16See him now going to southpaw now.
05:18Back to the orthodox momentarily.
05:20Tucking up again in that high guard, leaning forward.
05:23Looking to land something big.
05:25Left hook or looping overhand right is what he's looking to set up.
05:29That's why you see him drop his level.
05:32And he's just looking for Cortez to overcommit with something.
05:36Now coming forward, trying to put some pressure on Cortez.
05:41The uppercut is there for Cortez.
05:43He hasn't seen it yet, but the uppercut is there.
05:46His body work there for Cortez.
05:51Jimenez doing well to block it, but you see the ideas that are running through the mind of
05:56Andres Cortez.
05:58He's trying to open the guard of Jimenez up.
06:03Jimenez being stubborn so far.
06:06Six-time Spanish amateur national champion.
06:12Coming off of a unanimous decision loss against Ryan Garner for the European Union Championship in March of this year.
06:22So, he said, I'm still in shape.
06:27See, he goes in at an active high guard.
06:43Cortez, all Cortez has to do like he's doing out at distance.
06:47Just let his hands go.
06:49Leave his feet in place.
06:51And just let his hands go.
06:53If the feet move, then he can have to pick it up and readjust, but he's giving him free offense.
06:57And he's not looking to punch in between shots.
06:59He's just looking for him to finish, and then he's going to try to work.
07:03He's getting a little bit upset here in Sandy.
07:19After all the action we've seen earlier tonight.
07:22Yeah.
07:23You can't fall into the trap of trying to put on a show sometimes, but they wouldn't be mad at you if you did.
07:31All right, tonight's main event features Charlie Suarez, an active military man in the Philippines, who will be challenging Emmanuel Navarrete.
07:42And you see the reach of all of the opponents with over 70 inches of reach.
07:47Wilson was able to drop Navarrete.
07:49Concecao had success against him.
07:51And then you see Charlie Suarez at 74 inches.
07:55The only man to have a reach advantage over Navarrete, who's used to touching you from places where he's not supposed to hit you from, Tim.
08:03How does that change the dynamic of this fight?
08:05It's interesting because you've got a guy like Suarez, again, that can box.
08:11He can box off his back foot.
08:13He can also come forward, and he's able to stay a little bit outside and land his offense.
08:19So counterpunching is going to be very, or should be, very effective for him tonight because you have a guy like Navarrete that likes to take risks.
08:26And a lot of times he doesn't do things as if that is textbook.
08:29He reaches.
08:30He lunges.
08:31He's off balance a lot of the times.
08:32Well, Suarez is going to be able to hit him, you know, out at range.
08:36And any time he makes a mistake.
08:38So, look, great.
08:40He got Terrence Coffin reach, 74 inches, man.
08:43And he's two inches shorter.
08:45And that makes you different, man.
08:46That makes you dangerous.
08:47And that's why, to me, Navarrete used to be in that guy.
08:50Let's see how he deals with the guy who not only has the reach, but, Tim, good feet, excellent angles.
08:56Yes.
08:57He's got an amateur pedigree.
08:59Turned southpaw as well.
09:00Yes.
09:01You know, he has a little bit of Varencik, you know.
09:03Very, very awkward fighter.
09:04So, we're going to see what Navarrete learned from the Varencik loss at lightweight that he can apply to this fight.
09:11His fourth title defense at 130 pounds.
09:14That's our main event.
09:15We move over at 10 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. Pacific to ESPN.
09:20We hope you'll join us on the network or you can stay here and continue to watch the fights.
09:26Nice body work there from Cortez.
09:31Early rounds.
09:32He had a couple of fill-out rounds.
09:34Cortez needs to start picking up the offense.
09:37If I was in this corner, I'll let him know this dude is not here to fight.
09:40He's just here to look cute.
09:42You know, if he was here to fight, then, you know, he'd be letting his hands go.
09:46However, he's waiting on you.
09:48Don't give him an egg.
09:49Don't give him anything to wait on.
09:50Meet him with some shots.
09:52Is it harder to deal with a guy that doesn't want to engage?
09:55Take it to him.
09:56Take it to him.
09:57Make him open up.
09:58Let your hands go.
10:01And just be responsible defensively.
10:05Watch for his reaction.
10:07But, again, he's going to do this all night.
10:09Yeah.
10:10And that's what he wants to do.
10:12That's exactly what he wants to do.
10:22There you go.
10:23There it is.
10:24Nice right hand from Cortez.
10:26There you go.
10:27And just watch the left hook.
10:29He's leaning on that front leg for the left hook.
10:34Make that left hook miss and then come back even more with offense.
10:39Cortez is smart enough to figure this out.
10:43Nice.
10:44Right at the end of a three-punch competition.
10:46You see how he stepped back and he looked all cool and stuff with all the tattoos.
10:49He's posing.
10:50Come on, man.
10:51He's doing nothing.
10:52Come on now.
10:53Jimenez, you better than this.
10:55Let your hands go.
10:56Jimenez.
10:57Moving out in straight lines.
10:59Cortez could have continued to follow him out.
11:01But he didn't.
11:02He stopped.
11:17Oh, my goodness.
11:18He fainted on me.
11:19He tucked up real fast.
11:20Look.
11:21Look.
11:22Look.
11:23Look.
11:24Look.
11:25Just playing around, man.
11:26Just playing around, man.
11:27Just playing around.
11:28Just playing around, man.
11:29Just playing around.
11:30Turn.
11:31Keep walking from behind that jab and go to that motherfuckers body.
11:44Okay?
11:45How do you feel?
11:46Breathe.
11:47Breathe.
11:48Breathe.
11:49Breathe.
11:50Keep controlling that pace.
11:51Put some on his ass, though.
11:52Okay?
11:53Get behind that jab and go to that body.
11:54Don't fall asleep in there.
11:55All right?
11:56Don't fall asleep in there.
11:57Don't get hit with nothing.
11:58Look.
11:59This is clean.
12:00Okay.
12:01Stay alive.
12:02Work behind that double jab, that jab, and rip his ass.
12:05Okay?
12:06Relax.
12:07Relax.
12:08Go.
12:09Relax.
12:10Stay calm, though, in there.
12:11Stay on the rhythm.
12:12Ralph, put some water on his head a little bit.
12:14Amo.
12:15Amo.
12:16Smart, though.
12:17Okay?
12:18Smart.
12:19Smart.
12:20Don't go crazy.
12:21Don't miss.
12:22Okay?
12:23Breathe.
12:24Stay in here.
12:25Take every round.
12:26Let's go.
12:27Put some on his ass, okay?
12:36Are you ready for round four, Timothy Bradley?
12:39I'm ready to go get some popcorn.
12:41If I come back, this fight still won't be in the ring.
12:43Tres Cortes, 22-0, 12 knockouts.
12:48Salvador Jimenez from Spain, 14-1-1 with six knockouts.
12:52Nice right hook there from Jimenez.
12:54The waiter.
12:55About time.
12:56He waded on him and he lulled Cortes into an already hook.
12:59I'm so glad he didn't like what I said.
13:01Yes.
13:02Come out and fight, baby.
13:04Give us something to cheer about.
13:08Getting off to a quick start.
13:09I like that shifting tempo from Jimenez.
13:20That's a nice lead, right?
13:21And then a body shot from Cortes as things start to heat up.
13:25See, now he ticked off.
13:30See, look, he turned on Cortes.
13:32Cortes been out of the ring for some time now.
13:34Takes about four rounds to get acclimated if you've been out of the ring for, you know, close to a year or some time.
13:40They call him the Savage and hopefully Jimenez.
13:45Now he feeling it.
13:46Walk up to Savage.
13:47Body shot.
13:48He hit him with a double here.
13:49Did you see Cortes?
13:51Double tap left hook to the liver.
13:56Oh, the double tap up top, huh?
13:58No, I thought it was a two hands.
14:00I thought I saw two hands.
14:01He kind of sandwiched his head.
14:03Now he's looking at the body shot.
14:05What kind of gloves is Cortes?
14:08His right hand after a left hook downstairs.
14:11Cortes has got to watch the left hook.
14:13The left hook, the left hook, the left hook.
14:15That's what Cortes has to watch.
14:23His body works with Cortes working downstairs to slow down Jimenez.
14:38Yep, little guard down.
14:47Oh, nice counter right from Jimenez.
14:55When he loans Cortes into these moments, he has success.
15:00He changes angles.
15:01Cortes tries to cut off the ring.
15:03Boom.
15:04Gets hit in the process.
15:06Cortes, again, got to stay disciplined.
15:08He can come forward.
15:09Combine the jab.
15:10A lot of pressure.
15:12Take some on the gloves.
15:14Make him commit.
15:15Make him work.
15:16Make him force him to open up.
15:18See me, I ain't gonna believe this, but...
15:21What?
15:22Salvador Jimenez lied to me.
15:23What?
15:24When I asked him, describe your style.
15:26And he said, I'm aggressive.
15:29I'm aggressively moving out of the stage.
15:31Man, fighters are the biggest lies in the world, man.
15:33We lie about every day.
15:35Especially when it comes to the boxing.
15:37Oh, my gosh.
15:38I should earn 30-plus years into this business.
15:42Yeah.
15:43How do you feel?
15:44I feel this in my life.
15:46You're okay.
15:47You're okay.
15:48Open your legs.
15:50Good.
15:51You're winning every round.
15:53Yeah.
15:54You're with 4-0.
15:55Stay sharp.
15:56Don't let him hit you with nothing.
15:57That's the most important.
15:58Yeah.
15:59Stay aggressive, but stay sharp on your defense, okay?
16:01Yeah.
16:02Get behind that jab and keep going to that body.
16:04Don't get hit, because I'm telling you, he's just trying to counter you.
16:07Yeah.
16:08This is what I was talking about with Cortez.
16:11Double.
16:12Trying to expose that high guard.
16:17It looked like he hit him with both hands right there.
16:22He was holding the right hand up against his head and then popped him with the left hook.
16:26Yeah.
16:27That was interesting.
16:28Yeah.
16:29I was more impressed by the body work there.
16:30Stay light on the defense.
16:31Don't fall in trouble, man.
16:32Yeah, I mean, look, you try to hit up top for them to bring their arms up.
16:36To open up their body.
16:38Ooh.
16:39So that's why the first combination, the tap upstairs, was to get him minutes to raise his arms up.
16:46So that way he can dig them downstairs.
16:49Punches thrown by a round.
16:52Look at that.
16:5371 punches thrown by Cortez in that fourth round.
16:56That's the savage that we expected.
16:59You talked about the ring rust not being in there since June of last year.
17:03Well, almost 11 months and here he is finally letting his hands go and finding a rhythm.
17:09Yeah.
17:10That four round mark.
17:11That's good.
17:12Four round mark.
17:13It takes a fighter about four rounds and we've been out of the ring for some time.
17:18Four rounds to get acclimated to start feeling like, you know what, I got my sea legs.
17:22I'm okay.
17:23Do your arms feel tight as well or what is it?
17:27You can.
17:28You know, if you're not relaxed in there, your arms can get kind of tight.
17:33So what's the feeling of like, when you talk about ring rust, what's that?
17:38Just the timing.
17:39Your timing's off.
17:40Okay.
17:41You know, you're trying to locate the target.
17:42You know, usually when you have really good timing, you got a good range of distance, right?
17:50You're able to time your jab perfectly and that's completely off, man.
17:56You're throwing punches too soon, too late.
17:59You know, you're missing the target.
18:04Just like basketball.
18:06Just like in basketball.
18:08Same thing.
18:10Once you get your timing the rhythm back, then you start free-flowing.
18:15Nice right hand.
18:22I like that right hand downstairs.
18:25See what he can do after that.
18:28Combinations.
18:36Stop!
18:38Take a step back.
18:39Take a step back.
18:46People in the crowd yelling, hug him, hug him.
18:50Hey, man, you're just down the street from San Diego to Tijuana.
18:55These people are used to fight.
18:57Exactly.
18:58They love the first few fights of the night.
19:00Even though we went the distance in all four previous fights, they were all action fights.
19:05That's what the fans are here to see in a main event and co-main event title fights.
19:09But this is the problem.
19:10Menes is defensive-minded.
19:14That's what he is.
19:16Not am I mad at him.
19:17He's defensive-minded.
19:19He's just not going to let Cortez come in and hit him.
19:22You know, he's going to make it difficult for him and he's going to look and place his shots like a pro.
19:28So different styles for each fighter.
19:30This is a Menes style.
19:31He's a counter-puncher.
19:32Likes to wait on things.
19:34But it's up to Cortez if he wants to make this fight entertaining.
19:38It's up to him to figure it out.
19:40I'll tell you right now, he doesn't.
19:42The crowd's letting him know.
19:44It's actually up to both of them.
19:49However, this is what we're going to get.
19:51It's going to be up to both of Raymond Murataya's hands to be able to determine if he can have his hand raised in victory in his 23rd professional fight
20:01to become the IBF interim lightweight champion.
20:05He's got to defeat Zaur Abdullayev, who's fighting for a world title the second time in his career.
20:12And when Raymond Murataya is at his best, Tim, what is he doing?
20:17When he's at his very best?
20:19In complete control of the ring.
20:21Jab, firing out.
20:23You know, lays the right hands and left hook.
20:25You know, he's able to understand the distance.
20:28Landing his shots, body shots.
20:30You see a complete package, you know, when you watch him fight.
20:34When he's not at his very best, very complacent defensively.
20:39You know, gets tagged with shots he shouldn't be getting tagged with early on.
20:43And sometimes it takes him a little bit to get started, too.
20:47I see both of these guys starting a little bit slow.
20:51You know, after life starts, it's a slow starter.
20:54He starts to pick it up towards the middle of the fight.
20:56And I also have seen Murataya start slow and finish strong.
21:01So we'll see what comes out tonight, man.
21:04I got high expectations for Murataya.
21:06And a lot of people have been talking about him in the division at 135.
21:11And he has to prove it tonight.
21:13And he has to prove it tonight.
21:14That he's that guy.
21:15Crazy.
21:16Nice one, too.
21:17There from Jimenez.
21:18But too few and far between.
21:20Yeah, waiters don't take too many chances.
21:24Not at all.
21:25You know, when it's right for them, then they strike.
21:29When it's not, they don't strike.
21:30Hasn't been right for six rounds now for Jimenez.
21:33A few times in the fourth round, he let his hands go.
21:36He had some success with the right.
21:37Yeah.
21:38I mean, it's the style.
21:39He can be frustrated.
21:40Because, you know, he makes it hard.
21:41He doesn't.
21:42He doesn't fight off.
21:43He doesn't throw a lot.
21:44He doesn't get too many chances.
21:45Not at all.
21:46You know, when it's right for them, then they strike.
21:47If it's not, they don't strike.
21:52Hasn't been right for six rounds now for Jimenez.
21:57A few times in the fourth round, he let his hands go.
21:59He had some success with the right.
22:01Yeah.
22:02I mean, it's the style.
22:03He can be frustrated.
22:05Because, you know, he makes it hard.
22:07He doesn't.
22:08He doesn't fight off.
22:09He doesn't give you a whole lot of openings other than that high guard to try to penetrate.
22:13And that's a high, like, tight guard.
22:16You know, about a round ago, I saw Cortez trying to kill the guard down.
22:22But it was too strong.
22:25It was too strong.
22:26You see the build of Jimenez.
22:28Strong.
22:29Very strong.
22:30Physically strong.
22:31That's a nice left of the solar plexus from Cortez.
22:34And you can still see Jimenez still pretty explosive with those punches.
22:44Just through a double left hook combination that the Spaniard was able to connect.
22:49That's a nice snapping right hand from Cortez.
22:56A double jab from Jimenez.
23:02That's the thing.
23:03He has success when he lets his hands go.
23:05Yeah, it's a good route for Jimenez.
23:10I like how quickly he's able to draw.
23:13You know, when Jimenez decides to let his hands go, he's pretty accurate with his shots.
23:18Nice right hand.
23:20Nice right hand.
23:21And he's quick at close.
23:22He's quick at pretty, like, getting mid-range.
23:24Got a nice, quick first step.
23:26Oh, that was a nice body shot along the ropes.
23:28A good hook.
23:33You see this, and you're like, where is it?
23:36Because if he was doing that, he could be winning this fight.
23:39Yeah.
23:42Like I'll find another bell, gentlemen.
23:45He's trying to play in Cortez.
23:54That's ironic.
23:56That's what...
23:57You keep doing what you're doing.
23:58Let's get this win.
23:59Keep doing what you're doing, and walk him down smartly.
24:02Okay?
24:03Be careful after you're done throwing, he's trying to counter you.
24:05Remember that.
24:06Breathe, breathe.
24:07Keep getting there.
24:08Straight your legs out.
24:09Great work.
24:10How's your conditioning?
24:11Good.
24:12Towel on the floor.
24:14Breathe.
24:15Keep going to that body.
24:17All right?
24:18Great work.
24:19Stay on that rhythm.
24:20Okay?
24:21Don't go crazy.
24:22Stay composed.
24:23Breathe.
24:24What we got?
24:25Four more rounds?
24:27Almost.
24:28Let's go.
24:29Let's go.
24:30Let's start walking towards that.
24:31Don't get hit.
24:32Okay?
24:33Get behind that jab.
24:34Go to that body.
24:35Use your legs.
24:36If you're really done swinging, try to hit him with something.
24:37Keep going to that body.
24:38Go to that body this round.
24:40Keep picking this.
24:42You're not going nuts over his last five fights.
24:45Andres Cortes.
24:46He can be hot.
24:47He can be cold at his best.
24:49He's in your grill throwing a lot of punches.
24:51But Salvador Jimenez not allowing him to get off that easily because of his high guard.
24:57But so far, look, Cortes should be winning this fight just because Jimenez is not engaging as much as he should.
25:03But when he throws, Jimenez has success.
25:06Man, Cortes is a nine-year pro.
25:10Nine years.
25:12Nine years.
25:13Like, I can't even imagine being a nine-year pro and having fought for the world championship.
25:20Yeah.
25:21You know.
25:2222 fights, Tim.
25:24Exactly.
25:25But I'm just saying.
25:27Nine years.
25:2822 fights.
25:29That's not bidding.
25:30You should have more fights than that one.
25:32Two, you have a guy like Barbosa who waited 12 years for an opportunity in the world championship.
25:39What is really going on with these sanctioned bodies?
25:44You know, they need to have these guys fight number one versus number two.
25:52Number three versus number four.
25:54And I mean, I think that will help the sport, man, to be able to figure out who's the best in the division on the rise to be able to fight for a world championship.
26:01But I feel like a lot of these fighters are holding on to these belts, man.
26:06And they're picking and choosing who they want to fight.
26:09And the mandatory defense is no longer here in boxing.
26:14Well, they're here when it's a weak one and they want to take it like Canelo has done against.
26:21But that's not cool.
26:22But that's not cool.
26:23A fighter out in Miami.
26:26He wasn't saying game line mandatory when it was David Benavidez.
26:30Exactly.
26:31And my point is, so, you know, a lot of these fighters, they hide behind the stage in the body.
26:37And they can do that because they are the draw in the sport.
26:41And a guy like Canelo Alvarez, of course, he's the face of boxing.
26:45So he's able to get away with things like that.
26:47I remember back in the days Floyd was able to get away with things like that as well.
26:50It's just not Canelo.
26:52It's a lot of fighters.
26:53But it just sucks, man, because guys are working their behind off.
26:57And then you have a guy like Manny Pacquiao that comes back and coming off a loss.
27:01And I know he's older and I know he's paid his dues.
27:04However, the dude's coming off a loss and he's 40-something years old.
27:07And he's getting a shot at a world championship.
27:09And you've got other guys that have been working their butt off similar to here for eight years,
27:14nine years, to fight for a world championship.
27:17And they don't.
27:18I agree.
27:19They don't get the opportunity.
27:20It's bullcrap, man.
27:21And these sanctioned the bodies need to do something about that.
27:24They need to correct that, man.
27:25You know what the problem is?
27:26What?
27:27They can make more money with Manny Pacquiao than any other welterweight around.
27:31That's bullcrap.
27:32That's baloney, man.
27:33That's the ultimate fact.
27:34Yeah, I hear you.
27:35But that is the ultimate fact.
27:36But that's bullcrap.
27:37And so you have guys like Cortez who waits forever for a world championship.
27:42Now, I'm not saying he had the perfect career and he hadn't fought the right fighters
27:46and this and that at 30.
27:47He missed an opportunity to fight Suarez.
27:50However, I'm just saying there's many more examples out there that I can use.
27:54Another scintillating round between Cortez and Jimenez.
28:00And there is Perla Basaldua alongside the champion, Emmanuel Navarrete, who will be defending his title tonight.
28:07You saw her walk in with her pink sombrero.
28:09And now they're comparing sombreros there.
28:11That's so cool.
28:12With the champ and a future champion here.
28:15Wow.
28:16You know what else is cool, especially with what we're seeing inside the ring?
28:20Emmanuel Navarrete is one of the fighters who throws the most combinations.
28:24William Zepeda will be fighting Shakur Stevenson, Romancho Colotito Gonzalez, Juan Francisco Estrada,
28:30Brandon Figueroa, Harold Spence, and then Emmanuel Navarrete.
28:3415.3 combinations thrown per round.
28:38He gets busy.
28:39Gets down.
28:40Absolutely.
28:41And that's why we love him, you know.
28:43He puts it all out there and that's what the fans want to see.
28:46Is that an edit on the hat or is that a real photo?
28:49Because that's nice.
28:50He the only one up there with something on his head.
28:53That's nice.
28:54It's real, man.
28:55Hey.
28:56You got one of those hats.
28:57I had one.
28:59Who took it from you?
29:00Oh, man.
29:01This is a long story.
29:02Oh.
29:03Or it didn't fit your head?
29:04It didn't fit my head, no.
29:05But, yeah.
29:06It's a real nice hat.
29:08I'm going to see if I can get this one.
29:10All right.
29:11Punches thrown per round by Cortez.
29:13Let's take a look at how it's broken down.
29:16First three rounds, 37 per round.
29:18Since that, it's 53 punches thrown per round.
29:22So far in this fight, 39 total punches landed by Jimenez.
29:2679 for Andres Cortez.
29:29Well, at least Cortez has landed more than Canelo did against William Scull in 12 rounds.
29:36But Jimenez still has some work to do.
29:40The fans are getting their throats going.
29:42With the booze.
29:43With the booze.
29:49It's right hand there from Cortez.
30:04Yeah, it's been the same old story.
30:09Cortez trying to bust through that high guard every now and then.
30:12He'll catch him in after the clean shot.
30:15And that happens.
30:16That stab jab has been working for minutes.
30:21Let's see if he can work off of that as well.
30:23You know the worst part is when he doesn't get the decision he meant is going to be all disappointed.
30:31His quarters will be like he won that five.
30:33Yeah.
30:34He's blocking a lot of these punches.
30:39He's blocking a lot of these punches.
30:43He's definitely blocking a lot of these shots.
30:46And not that one.
30:48See, sometimes.
31:13Fights when you're just coming back, right?
31:20Mm-hmm.
31:21You're just getting back into the mix, getting back on the scene.
31:26You know, Cortez coming in off of an injury.
31:30Been out in the ring for a while.
31:32This is one of those fights where he's just saying, just get the win.
31:35We'll look good later.
31:36We just need to get in here and get back in action.
31:38Yeah, but he wants a title shot.
31:40This is not the way you earn a title shot, Tim.
31:42Nah, he ain't going.
31:43He ain't going.
31:44No.
31:45No.
31:46I mean, look.
31:47Title shots.
31:48I think he, look.
31:49To be honest with you, I think he's ready.
31:50But I'm just saying, he's been out for close a damn year, man.
31:53And he's fighting a guy, again, that's a counter puncher that likes the weight.
31:56And, you know, it makes things, it's making things difficult for him.
31:59Yo, Pimp Stradamus, last week.
32:01What?
32:02Tim Stradamus came and you gave us in your lab what the key was to get to Inouye.
32:08How do you get to Navadete?
32:09Oh, come on.
32:10Navadete, you already know.
32:11Unconventional.
32:12Makes a lot of mistakes.
32:13Yes.
32:14You're going to have Suarez.
32:15You're going to have to push him back.
32:17Guess what?
32:18Because he squares up.
32:19Not in position.
32:20Look at those hands down.
32:21Suarez having that 74-inch reach.
32:22Guess what?
32:23He'll be able to reach him in these instances right here.
32:26And another thing, Suarez needs to watch out for this launching pad.
32:29This cross step, you'll see he gets in position.
32:32He's starting to launch forward in that uppercut right there.
32:34But, man, look at the exposure on that right side.
32:38Oh, my gosh.
32:39Those long arms.
32:40And Suarez got a left hook.
32:42Hey, he can make him pay.
32:44And uppercuts.
32:45You know they're going to be thrown.
32:46And they're thrown from far out, a far distance from Navadete.
32:50He drops it before he throws.
32:51I mean, it's so many.
32:52I mean, come on.
32:53If you beat him to the punch.
32:54The left hook right here.
32:56Boom.
32:57That Wilson was able to land.
33:00I think a guy like Suarez, I think he has that knowledge.
33:04And he also has that punch.
33:05That's an automatic punch for Suarez.
33:07So, if he looks at that and apply that, it can help him in this fight, huh?
33:13Well, the thing is, we all see it.
33:16All hits opponents come in and tell you what they see.
33:18Because Suarez told us in the fighter meetings, look, he drops his opposite hand when he's going to throw it.
33:23In that case, he dropped both hands.
33:25Yeah.
33:26But only Wilson was really able to hurt him.
33:30You know, Conceição had some success.
33:32So, if you take the power of Wilson, which Suarez has that left hook, and if you take the technique of an Olympian like Conceição,
33:40which Charlie Suarez has that pedigree, put those together, hmm.
33:45But there's only, look, there's a couple of things that concern me about Suarez.
33:51Okay.
33:52What's that?
33:53One, he likes to use the high guard.
33:55And that's one thing.
33:56You don't want to sit in front of a volume puncher and someone that can punch as hard as Dominique.
33:59He likes guys that use the high guard.
34:01You know who used the high guard?
34:02Valdez.
34:03And you saw what happened to him.
34:05One.
34:06Two, he tends to bag out in straight lines.
34:08You know.
34:09And he bag out in a straight line.
34:11Then that launching pad that he used, that cross step, is going to work.
34:14He's going to follow him out with that left hook.
34:17And there was one more thing I was thinking about.
34:22But I forgot.
34:23There's one more thing that concerned me, but I forgot right now.
34:26But it'll come back to me.
34:27It'll come back to me.
34:28Look at Salon Jimenez.
34:29And when he lets his hands go, how good he can look.
34:32Yeah, but he don't believe in his condition.
34:34True.
34:35And he don't like getting hit.
34:37He a pretty boy.
34:38That's it.
34:39You see them trunks?
34:40You see them trunks?
34:41I'm trying to tell you.
34:42I pay attention to all that.
34:43Oh, you got the little cute little trunks on.
34:45Oh, yeah.
34:46Okay.
34:47You don't like to get hit.
34:48Look at the nice haircut.
34:49He got everything, man.
34:50Tattoos all over his chest.
34:51Oh, that was a nice right hand from Cortez.
34:52For sure.
34:53Well, I'm about to show you.
34:55You know, Cardenas said, I don't like to cut my hair before a fight because when I look good, I want to show out.
35:00Like, if I look scruffy, I'm going to put on a fight just like he did last week against it anyway.
35:05Right, right, right.
35:06Oh, the last thing I remember.
35:07See, don't take punches for a living, please, kids at home.
35:10It only took two minutes for you to remember.
35:11Go ahead.
35:12I don't want to mess up your train to talk.
35:14Now, Suarez, sometimes when I watch him on film, he gets overwhelmed by combinations, you know,
35:22and he gets to put himself in bad position.
35:25So, that's what concerned me tonight.
35:28Well, guess what?
35:29We just showed Navarrete throws 15 combinations per round.
35:33So, look, but that makes for a great, intriguing fight.
35:36Yes.
35:37Because both guys, you see a path to victory.
35:39Absolutely.
35:40And a path to defeat.
35:41And that's why I said upset alert.
35:43You know, you have to wait on top of that.
35:45The boxing ability, if Suarez, he going to have to box perfectly tonight.
35:51And if he can avoid, again, being on that launching pad in the direction of that left hook and uppercut,
35:56if he can avoid that, he can do something.
36:06And then they touch each other's hands after the fight.
36:10Great job.
36:12Man.
36:13Great round.
36:14Can we do that one last time?
36:15Yeah.
36:16How you feel?
36:17I hurt my left hand.
36:18Your left hand?
36:19This is firing session.
36:20That's what he's doing.
36:21I might have hurt his left hand.
36:22How bad is it?
36:23Yeah.
36:24I can touch.
36:25I can touch.
36:26Breathe.
36:27Don't get hit, bro.
36:28He's going to come out desperate.
36:29He knows he's down.
36:30We're going to go in.
36:31Breathe.
36:32Breathe.
36:33Breathe.
36:34Don't get hit, Tam.
36:35Don't even get hit.
36:36Breathe.
36:37All right.
36:38Breathe.
36:39Breathe.
36:40Transformers.
36:43Change buddies.
36:44forward.
36:45Villain fans.
36:46Come down.
36:47Refugees of two Marie.
36:48Throwing every touchdown.
36:49Or in the lead Stadium.
36:50One is gonna win zero.
36:51womos.
36:52R接 or 조aret.
36:53Pierre Bluht, here-here-here-here-here.
36:54Come up.
36:55Here, here-here.
36:56Come up, smartiffe.
36:57Crowd's excited them.
36:59Trump's about to start in.
37:00supercomputげ.
37:01The end is...
37:02You think that's what...
37:03What else?
37:04You think that's what they embody the ball?
37:05Sorry,
37:07They say yes, he's about to be over with.
37:13Look, in between rounds, Andres Cortez told his brother and trainer Luis Cortez,
37:18my left hand is hurt.
37:19He says, how bad?
37:20I can tap with it.
37:21That's why he's not digging in like he was earlier in the fight.
37:34He's touching with it.
37:35He doesn't want his opponent to know it's hurt.
37:38Look, if you would have thought, you know, you're not supposed to.
37:40However, I mean, look, the opposite hand, you've got to work overtime.
37:46That's it.
37:47Work that opposite hand.
37:48You lose one, use the opposite hand more.
37:51That's simple.
37:57I remember when it was Lomachenko, one fight early in his career,
38:02he lost one of his hands, and you can see him switch his orthodox, south ball.
38:08You saw him dig into his bag, and he was using the hell out of that hand, too.
38:12Great different type of punch angles and punching opportunities.
38:16And so, you know, he worked on that.
38:20You've got to work on everything here in this sport.
38:23I've totally everything.
38:24Lomachenko left nothing to chance in those camps with Vasily.
38:29Absolutely not.
38:30I mean, yeah, that's what you're supposed to do.
38:32You're supposed to be prepared for any and everything, even for knockdowns.
38:36And that knocked down one anyway.
38:38It almost made me feel like because the way he responded that they were working,
38:44the way he was looking at the referee, how he glanced over at his corner, right?
38:48Yeah.
38:49And he nodded his head like, I'm good.
38:51I'm okay.
38:52Then you can see him looking at the count, and then he gets up,
38:56and he's saying to the ref, I'm okay.
38:58I'm okay.
38:58I'm fine.
39:00Yeah, he was ready for that moment.
39:03Yeah, it's different for guys who get dropped for the first time,
39:06have no idea what they're doing.
39:07Some look to their corner.
39:09Yeah.
39:10More important moments come.
39:11Some guys just jump up and don't take the time to recover.
39:13And he took the count.
39:15He took the eight count.
39:16Look, when you get knocked down, it's an automatic eight count.
39:19Your miles will use the time, right?
39:21Eight, nine.
39:23You need to be up on your feet.
39:29Man, I got some, I got invited some people out tonight.
39:45I hope they didn't fall this night.
