00:00Essa é a questão. A gate está about to drop aqui, e eles fazem soar.
00:03A slow getaway for aqui, it's Fevre alongside him.
00:06Mas, no meio da gate, vai ser cold no meio, mas Fevre...
00:09runs it as wide as possível, through that first turn.
00:13Fevre with his second foxhole shot of the year.
00:16And Jonas is down in the first turn.
00:19Jonas foi 7th in the qualifying race yesterday.
00:21And it's Fevre who leads the way.
00:24Zewa's second.
00:27Maxime Renault in third place.
00:30As they drop downhill for the first time, Iago Geertz in fourth, Fernandes Smith, Kaldunov, Lucas Kunin, Guadagnini 8, Philanra 9, Erlings 10, Bonacorsi, Bogus, Bodega Gomez in 13.
00:42Then we've got Vandonek, Sterry, Watson in 16, Adamson, Kock, Vandermosteik and Panza.
00:50Horgmo must have got caught somewhere on that first turn as well.
00:53Oh, Geertz is down.
00:56Geertz goes down.
00:57On the opening lap, from fifth place, at fourth position.
01:10Horgmo and Jonas, right at the back, 23rd and 24.
01:12Fevre trying to navigate his way around this difficult racetrack.
01:19See them out of water laying on the track.
01:21Nothing to do with Ironman Sam this weekend.
01:23Just mother nature.
01:25Kornov still trying to keep Lucas Kunin at bay in fifth place at the moment.
01:30Fernandes, a great start in fourth.
01:33For the home fans, giving them something to cheer about.
01:35But as we head uphill, Roman Fevre, Jeremy Siwa, they find themselves first and second.
01:41Maxime Renault, third.
01:42The man in red and yellow, number 70, Ruben Fernandes, fourth.
01:46Had a horrible time in the qualifying race on Saturday.
01:50Looking to make amends today.
01:52So, too.
01:52Lucas Kunin, just there, in white, on the Red Bull KTM.
01:56He hits the line now in fifth place.
01:58Finally finding his way past Koldenov.
02:07Iago here, it's down in 23rd.
02:09Not sure where it was he felt on that opening lap, but went from fourth to 23rd in the blink of an eye.
02:20Kunin looks up, sees Fernandes just ahead of him.
02:28dropping downhill into turn four.
02:37Breaking bumps getting bigger, getting deeper.
02:40That inside line, the favoured line at the moment.
02:44No one knows how deep it is outside.
02:46Even Kevin Haugmo staying away from the outside line this weekend.
02:50A little bit of barbanging going on here between Guadagnini and Bonacorsi.
02:57Both those riders fell at turn one in the qualifying race yesterday.
03:00Guadagnini eighth, Bonacorsi ninth.
03:03A moment ago, but it's Bonacorsi now who's switched positions.
03:08And then Brian Bogus gets stuck.
03:12Disappears from tenth place.
03:14Geoffrey Hurling's lining up a pass on Guadagnini.
03:20Guadagnini closest to us on this right-hand side.
03:24Looks across, sees Hurlings there.
03:28And then he starts bouncing right to left.
03:32Hanging on to that ninth place at the moment.
03:36The Italian, Guadagnini.
03:42Bonacorsi, he felt the full force of his fantic, didn't he,
03:46when he went over the bars yesterday.
03:47Things smashed him right between the shoulder blades.
03:51Just came in hot.
03:52His front wheel onto the rear wheel of the Ducati in front of him.
03:54That locked up the front end.
03:57Pitched him into an immediate stop.
03:58Straight out the sunroof.
04:01And out the front door at the same time.
04:06Fevera, though, with about a two-second advantage over Jeremy Siwa,
04:11continuing to lead the way.
04:14Renault, two seconds further back.
04:16How much of this is goggle preservation for some of these riders?
04:19It might be a bit of a slow burner.
04:21This one.
04:22And then something might click.
04:24And it might be Lucas Coonan that does the clicking.
04:28Because he's parked there in fifth at the moment,
04:29about two seconds behind Ruben Fernandez.
04:33Ruben Fevera here, though, in red.
04:36As in the number plate, red.
04:39Leading the championship charge.
04:44He's looking comfortable, isn't he?
04:46We said that in the qualifying race yesterday
04:47until he fell in this corner here.
04:50See, we're keeping him honest at the moment
04:52on his Aruba.IT Ducati.
04:55A little bit off-balance there for Siwa.
05:04And that's allowed Fevera just to break free.
05:08It was 1.6 at the last split.
05:10We'll get a new one here at the end of this straight.
05:12Looks a bit more than that now, doesn't it?
05:13As Maximiliano and Ruben Fernandez try to close in.
05:17The gap between first and second.
05:18Three seconds now.
05:20That's how costly that balancing act was,
05:23or non-balancing act of Siwa was a moment ago.
05:28Now he's got to work hard to get back onto the coattails,
05:30if you like,
05:31of the Manning Green ahead of him.
05:32Good start, though, for Ducati in muddy conditions.
05:52Still no change in the leaderboard.
05:54Renault third.
05:55Fernandez here fourth for Honda HRC.
05:57Flying the flag for the red corner of Japan.
06:02Had to fight the front end there, didn't he?
06:06Deep rut in that bottom corner, turn two.
06:18Bogus and Jonas find their way past Roman Amostag,
06:20who slips to 16th place.
06:22Horkman up to 18th.
06:23He's bringing Josh Gilbert with him.
06:26Now into 19th.
06:27He hits up in the 20th
06:28after his problem on the opening lap.
06:32when he fell from fourth place.
06:36Lukas Kunen in fifth.
06:38Doesn't look too fussed at the moment, does he?
06:41Just very cool, calm.
06:45That's Jonas parking it down the inside of Roman Amostag.
06:49Jonas Knapp in the 15th.
06:50Jonas, another rider that fell at turn one.
07:00Kevin Horkman, a couple of positions behind him in 18th.
07:09A little bit squirrely.
07:10Mid-turn there for the number 17.
07:12We've got a rider down.
07:14It's Siwa.
07:16Siwa out of second place.
07:17And can't get himself into the race again.
07:23So Maxime Renault now second.
07:25Ruben Fernandes promoted to third.
07:29And Lukas Kunen picking up a gift of a couple extra points as well
07:32as he moves into fourth place.
07:33Watch this then, Jeremy Siwa.
07:40As we were focusing on Fernandes.
07:43That was Siwa upside down.
07:46Just got cross-rutted on the take-off.
07:49And that double ended outside of track limit.
07:52While it was inside track limits.
07:53But upside down in a heap.
07:56How costly is that for Jeremy Siwa?
07:59Crossed the line in 8th place.
08:06Roman Fevre setting a fastest lap boat.
08:09So far, 1.53, 2.27.
08:17Lukas Kunen, about 12 seconds off the lead at the moment.
08:20In fourth place.
08:24One of several riders to benefit from Siwa.
08:28Falling from second to eighth.
08:31So, Renault to second.
08:32Fernandes third.
08:33Kunen fourth.
08:33Koldenov fifth.
08:35Fulana in sixth.
08:35Bonacorsi seventh.
08:37Siwa down at eighth.
08:38Guadagnini's teammate down in ninth.
08:40And then Hurlings still not able to advance further forward.
08:43This is Jonas getting alongside Adam Steri and Brian Bogers.
08:47Is he going to do a twofer?
08:48Of course he is.
08:49Jonas on a bit of a charge here.
08:52Now up in the 12th.
09:01So, Jonas making light work of the conditions as he moves into 12th place.
09:10Keep an eye on Jonas.
09:11Over on the left-hand side.
09:14Just tucked in behind Siwa.
09:15But then he just folds the front there.
09:19Catches the bank.
09:23Walkmo was in a different incident then because he was up front here.
09:29Briefly.
09:29Roman Fevra riding as loose as always.
09:39Loves these conditions where everyone else tries to be a little bit two-inch perfect.
09:44He just likes to roll on the throttle.
09:46Let that back end work.
09:47Let it drift.
09:48And these conditions made for him in many respects.
09:56The two Ducatis.
09:58Guadagnini and Siwa.
10:00Guadagnini now up to eighth.
10:03Siwa ninth.
10:04Lisa Langland is down in pit lane getting ready to talk to Marco Maddy, team manager over there at Aruba.it Ducati.
10:13Both riders line astern in eighth and ninth.
10:15Marco, we saw Jeremy Siwa.
10:20He got the start.
10:21He was looking good in second.
10:23Unfortunately, he made that mistake.
10:24Will he be able to regroup and make inroads from eighth position?
10:28Yeah, I mean, he took a perfect start.
10:30He was running so good and unfortunately, he had the crash down to the track in the waves.
10:36Now he's in the back of Mattia.
10:38It seems he's making some mistakes.
10:40He lost a little bit the pace, so I hope he can regroup and finish the race in the top ten.
10:45That would be good, but I'm happy for the potential that he showed in the first laps.
10:49But unfortunately, this is racing, but we still have Moto2, so let's see how it will end.
10:54Marco, we saw Mattia involved in the first turn crash yesterday in qualifying.
10:57How is he?
10:58The first crash yesterday in the qualifying race was really hard, but luckily for him,
11:04he didn't get hurt, so he's totally fine.
11:07Only the bike was damaged after the crash, so he's 100% fine today, and he's riding quite
11:13well and stable in the top ten, so we are quite happy.
11:16Best luck to the team.
11:17Thank you.
11:19The problem that Jeremy Siwa has, having crashed at the end of this straight two laps ago,
11:23is the amount of mud on his gloves and his handlebars.
11:25Things are very, very slippery and tricky to hold on to.
11:29So if he is making mistakes, it's pretty understandable.
11:33Just don't have that same kind of feeling that you have normally when everything is dry.
11:39But a self-inflicted mistake.
11:41He's misread a situation potentially, and it's cost him now down in ninth place.
11:48Lucas Coonan still going after Ruben Fernandes here, but you can see how narrow the track is
11:53now.
11:54Everybody down that inside, heading down that hill on the right-hand side into turn two.
11:58Everything on the outside, on the left, very sticky, very rutty, maybe a lot more unpredictable.
12:05Coonan trying to take the shortest route through the corner there, turn three, as he looks
12:10to bridge the gap between himself and the Spaniard.
12:13And you know what?
12:14Might just be that he didn't have a good feeling yesterday, Lucas Coonan.
12:16Yes, he got up to second.
12:17He fell down to fourth.
12:18Might be in that situation today where he doesn't have a great feeling and he's just trying
12:23to ride this one out, hoping that something comes towards him because he was 12th in the
12:27warm-up session this morning.
12:28Okay, it's only warm-up.
12:29It was very, very difficult conditions.
12:30You don't need to do anything impressive in that session, but when you look at Roman
12:36Fevre, who was fastest in warm-up with a 1.45.8, and Jeffrey Herlings, Glenn Kolnouf, those
12:42guys just putting in a bit of a lap, tells you all you need to know, doesn't it, that who
12:46felt good, who didn't, in those unpredictable conditions.
12:51Coonan wasn't one of them.
12:58getting behind the 70 of Ruben Fernandes.
13:01He's third at the moment in the race.
13:02Can he get on the podium this weekend?
13:06First of all, he'll need to get through this first race, though, and he's doing a great
13:11job of hanging on in there in that third position, keeping Lucas Coonan behind him.
13:16Here's Jeffrey Herlings.
13:19He's found his way past Siwa, moves up into ninth place.
13:28See, we're on the right, then Herlings.
13:36Ah, Siwa having more issues there, look, fighting that motorcycle.
13:40And actually, Siwa is dropped to another couple of places because Vandonek has gone through
13:46on the GM Honda.
13:48Siwa now 11th.
13:49And here is the 32 of Brent Vandonek, a tough start to his campaign this year.
14:01Hoping just to pick up some points.
14:05Currently 33rd in the championship, missed the first four rounds, didn't start when we
14:10went to Trentino, didn't show up in Switzerland.
14:15Portugal, he was 18th overall.
14:18Geoffrey Herlings, who was on the podium here, second overall last year with a fourth and
14:26a second, when he was a little bit more up for it, let's say.
14:31Difficult to motivate yourself when you join a championship round four, knowing that the
14:37goal that you had to become world champion again for the sixth time is not a possibility
14:46anymore.
14:50Jonas going after Siwa.
14:53Looks like 2017 with these two.
14:56Jonas eventually coming away with the MX2 world title.
15:03And it was a mud race that decided it in France at Villars-Sous-et-Cos at the end of that
15:08year.
15:12This is MXGP seven years later.
15:19Siwa, though, had his issues, didn't he?
15:21Jonas having his issues just through there as well.
15:27Wonder how quickly this circuit will dry out with the sun coming out.
15:30Guess a lot of it depends on how warm the sun is.
15:32It hasn't been that warm since we've been here.
15:34Some of us stayed out during the week when we had the best of the sunshine through till
15:38Friday.
15:39But since then, it's dropped around about 12, 13 degrees, which is not that great for this
15:48time of year.
15:50Maxime Reneau, Monster Energy Yamaha, circulating in second position.
15:54Fifth in the championship in a moment.
15:58He's been inside the top three since the opening round when he took a second and a first to
16:01come away with the overall victory.
16:04And the championship leader's red plate in Argentina.
16:07Had a bunch of injuries since then, though, hasn't he?
16:10Broke that hand before round two and then rode through that.
16:15Had that big crash in Switzerland mid-race or towards the end of the race.
16:20Picked up some knocks and bangs with that one as well.
16:25He'll welcome the break next weekend when we have no racing.
16:30Just to try and regroup and rest up a little bit more.
16:34A rider with no such problems, though, at the moment is Romain Favre.
16:38Kawasaki racing team.
16:40Ten and a half seconds clear with 13 minutes to go.
16:44Kevin Haugmo having issues coming out of turn two.
16:49Borgmo down in 17th.
16:58Romain Favre looking like he's on a different race track to everybody else at the moment.
17:02Nice and easy on the gas.
17:03Doesn't look like he's revving too much.
17:05Doesn't look like he's trying hard.
17:07Looks very relaxed, very composed.
17:10Just looks like he's on a training run.
17:12All he needs now is a mechanic to stand out in the track here like old times.
17:15Just to give him his board signal to say that he's circulating in the 1.54s.
17:22Maxime Renault, who is still 10.3 seconds behind him, sets the fastest lap now though.
17:281.53.1.
17:30Difficult to suggest that Renault will put in a late race charge with 12 and a half minutes plus two to go and whittle down that 10 second advantage because he was a second quicker than Favre last time around.
17:48Favre looks like he's very much in control of this one though at the moment.
18:02The gap just keeping an eye on the splits.
18:07Renault takes another two or three tenths out of Favre.
18:11Gap down to 9.9 now.
18:13Gap down to 9.5 seconds behind him, sends a great signal to move on.
18:20Fernandes, 4 seconds further back in 3rd, Koonan just sitting there, 3.3 seconds of drift.
18:27I guess you kind of, when you're feeling it, you're on and that was what we got from Lúkas Koonan a week ago, three wins.
18:36Ele ganhou o qualifico, ele ganhou o qualifico,
18:38ele ganhou o qualifico, também, na segunda vez.
18:42Ele está no quarto,
18:44que não tem que 100%
18:48com o circuito e o condicionamento aqui,
18:52e talvez um mais mais maturado
18:56Lucas Coonan dizendo,
18:58você sabe o que?
19:00Vamos só tomar o points,
19:02enquanto eles estão no offer,
19:04ele ganhou o tempo,
19:06ele ganhou o tempo,
19:08ele ganhou o 5º position,
19:10Fantec Factory Racing MXGP.
19:18No-one likes these kind of conditions,
19:20some excel in them more than others,
19:22but truth be known,
19:24when you go down that start straight,
19:26you get filled in on that start straight,
19:28if you're not in at the front,
19:30through the first couple of corners,
19:32then you sit back and then all of a sudden
19:34the riders ahead of you sort of do the same.
19:36Find yourself in a very lonely place,
19:38Koldanov, 2.7 seconds,
19:40back of Coonan in 5th,
19:42and he's got 12 seconds over his teammate,
19:44Andrea Bonacorsi, and for me,
19:46Andrea Bonacorsi, the way that he went down
19:48in that first turn in the qualifying race,
19:50he is riding something of a hero's race,
19:54isn't he?
19:56Hello, Ruben Fernandes,
19:58having to use his upper body strength a moment ago
20:00on the finish line jump,
20:02to save that third place.
20:07Traffic ahead of him here,
20:08fellow Spaniard,
20:10Borrega Gomez,
20:12lets him through.
20:14It was a lap down.
20:20Fede, Ruben's mechanic,
20:22chief mechanic, looking on.
20:28Talk about an emotional rollercoaster
20:30with HRC, this last couple of rounds,
20:32Geisa goes out,
20:34dislocates his shoulder,
20:36loses the lead in the championship,
20:38Ruben Fernandes gets on the podium
20:40a week ago in Portugal,
20:42has a big crash in turn one
20:44in the qualifying race here,
20:46falls again later on.
20:48Skips the paddock show
20:50because he needed to attend
20:52to his cuts and bruises
20:54and his injuries and things like that.
20:56And then comes out swinging here
20:58in race one on Sunday
21:00with a third at the moment.
21:02Talk about turning things around.
21:04Good effort, so far,
21:06from Rubes.
21:16Somebody's goggles laying there
21:17on the side of the track.
21:27He's looking down the leaderboard
21:28outside of the top ten.
21:29We've got Jeremy Sea
21:30at 11th place.
21:31Pauls Jonas, 12th.
21:33That gap steadied now,
21:35six or seven seconds
21:36between those two.
21:37Then Bogus, 13th.
21:39Watson in 14th
21:40for MRT Beta Racing.
21:42Manamo Stike is in 15th
21:44for Cossack KTM.
21:46Then Adam Sterry
21:47on the Chambers KTM.
21:49Kevin Horgmo
21:50on the Honda Motor Blues
21:51SR Motor Machine.
21:52Then Gilbert
21:53and Jan Panzer.
21:55Temp JP253.
21:57very much a privateer
21:59in this MXGP category.
22:01Kunin goes through.
22:04Here is Glenn Koldinoff.
22:06Currently circulating in fifth.
22:08Bonacorsi is team-mate in sixth.
22:10Brian Bogus
22:12after separating his shoulder
22:13a week ago in race one
22:14whilst third
22:15popped it back in,
22:16finished the race
22:17and scored points.
22:18All three riders here this weekend.
22:20Lisa is down in pit lane
22:21with the boss man
22:22Louis Fosters
22:23at Fantic Factory MXGP.
22:32Louis Fosters,
22:33we have Koldinoff in fifth.
22:34Bonacorsi is in sixth
22:35at the moment for Fantic.
22:37So far so good for those two.
22:39Yes, so far so good
22:40but the track is really,
22:41let's say, demanding and technical.
22:43You cannot compare it to yesterday,
22:46let's say,
22:47we had a lot of rain.
22:48But at the moment
22:49it's going quite well
22:50and we are happy with that
22:51because there was a big crash
22:53yesterday from Bona
22:54in the qualifying race.
22:55He burned his back and his neck
22:57and he's doing really well now
22:59for the moment.
23:00How's Brian feeling?
23:01Because it's been a tough couple of weeks
23:02for him.
23:03Yes, better and better
23:04but he's still struggling
23:05with the shoulder.
23:06Shoulder popped out last week.
23:07He's now wearing a brace.
23:08So he tried to do the best
23:11but it's not so easy.
23:12let's say.
23:13Best of luck to the team.
23:14Thank you, Louis.
23:18Glen Kolranoff then,
23:19circulating in fifth position.
23:22Here's Brent van Donick,
23:23the GM Honda racing rider.
23:25What an impressive performance
23:26this is for the Belgian
23:27at the moment.
23:28Circulating in ninth,
23:29sandwiched between Hurlings
23:30and Guadagnini.
23:31After re-injuring his leg
23:33earlier in the season.
23:35It's been a very, very tough
23:36start for him
23:37and it's a result like this.
23:38We'll get him fired up,
23:39get the team fired up as well
23:41and hopefully for Brent van Donick
23:43from here onwards
23:44and upwards
23:45just to gain some
23:46of that confidence
23:47that's been lacking
23:48in the first part of the season.
23:54And van Donick up tonight
23:55having bound his way
23:56past Guadagnini
23:57just a moment ago.
23:58just a moment ago.
24:11Not easy in MXGP,
24:12that's for sure.
24:13Certainly when you've been battled
24:15or you're battling injuries
24:16and riding with injuries.
24:18I remember talking to Jackie Martins,
24:20Ian Trentino,
24:21asking why he left the circuit
24:22on Sunday morning
24:24and he just said
24:25everything was just too painful
24:26for him.
24:27But he went back
24:28to the drawing board,
24:29came back
24:30and he said
24:31he's not going to come back
24:32until he's ready.
24:33Well, I'm guessing
24:34there is not as much pain
24:35now for the number 32
24:37who's looking at his biggest points
24:39all of the season so far.
24:41Jeffrey Hurlings,
24:43alongside Calvin Valada
24:45and on the number 10.
24:46the Yamaha just back end,
24:49skipped out,
24:50misbehaved a little bit.
24:52That meant Hurlings didn't
24:53jump the tabletop.
24:54He holds a tight line.
24:55Hurlings goes through
24:56and up in the seventh.
25:06As Louis Boster said
25:07a moment ago,
25:08the racetrack very technical.
25:10And as Vlaanren said
25:11with the rain that we had
25:12the track after watching
25:13I guess from the hospitality area
25:15the early part of MX2 Race 1
25:18as he was getting ready
25:19for his race
25:20looking at how the track
25:21was starting to narrow down,
25:23starting to become
25:24a little bit one line.
25:25Said it needed a good start.
25:28Well, that good start
25:29went to
25:31Roman Fevre
25:32and no one has seen him.
25:33He's 11 seconds clear
25:34at the moment
25:35and the head of the field,
25:36the championship leader.
25:37Hurlings up to seventh.
25:39Vlaanren down to eighth.
25:45So far, this is the first race
25:47of the day
25:48where we've not had rain.
25:52Jeremy Siwa going back
25:53after his teammate
25:54Mattia Guadagnini.
25:59Another solid showing for Ducati.
26:01Of course, Siwa fell from second
26:03early on in the race.
26:06On lap three.
26:07We're now on lap 13.
26:08Could have been so different,
26:11but circuit conditions then
26:13were even more predictable
26:14than they are now
26:15because of the fact that
26:16watch, top of the corner
26:17of your screen
26:18just took off
26:19a little bit skew
26:20and then lost it.
26:21Bike doubled him up in two.
26:23Then after that,
26:24you're picking your hat,
26:25you're picking your bike up,
26:26grips and gloves covered in muck.
26:27And obviously trying to get fired up as well.
26:31That was earlier on in the race,
26:32lap three.
26:33Made a couple more mistakes after that.
26:35Took him a little while
26:36to regain his composure
26:37and find his rhythm.
26:39Looks like he's going
26:40after his teammate now.
26:41And if he does find his way
26:42back past,
26:43that'll be 10th place.
26:44Roman Favre dancing
26:45to his own tune
26:46coming out of that final turn.
26:48Continues to keep that gap
26:50hovering around 10,
26:5110 and a half seconds
26:52over fellow Frenchie,
26:53Maxime Renaud.
26:54He's got a little bit more.
26:55He's got a little bit more.
26:56He's got a little bit more.
26:57He's got a little bit more.
26:58He's got a little bit more.
26:59He's got a little bit more.
27:00He's got a little bit more.
27:01And Roman Favre,
27:05not feeling any effects
27:07of that red plate.
27:11That's when he's at his best,
27:12isn't it?
27:20Fernandez still in third,
27:21three and a half seconds
27:22behind Maxime Renaud.
27:23Are we going to see a late push
27:25from the number 17?
27:28or is he happy just to sit there
27:31and roll the dice?
27:33Going into race two,
27:34hoping for a good start.
27:36Another top three finish.
27:37We had great weather here last year.
27:42We had a sellout crowd
27:43because of the fact that
27:44the Prado effect.
27:46Siwa, same place
27:48on the racetrack.
27:50goes down again.
27:53Siwa, out of 11th position.
28:03Gifting a bunch of riders some points.
28:05Jonas now to 11th.
28:06Watson, 12th.
28:07Bogus up to 13th.
28:08Siwa, 14th.
28:09Siwa, 14th.
28:17It's been a walk in the park
28:18so far for Roman Favre,
28:19hasn't it?
28:20Apologies at home
28:21if he's made it look boring,
28:23but he's made the best
28:24of these conditions.
28:28And using them to his full advantage.
28:30Three laps to go.
28:44Going into the Grand Prix
28:45in Portugal a week ago.
28:46A lot of questions being asked.
28:47With Favre missing the round.
28:49Who do you fancy being in the championship?
28:51These were the kind of questions
28:52that were being asked in general.
28:54And obviously with Roman Favre,
28:5551 points clear of Lucas Coonan
28:57at that point.
28:58Whilst they were second and third
28:59in the championship.
29:00Some people were saying Favre.
29:01But then the downside of that is
29:03maybe he's thinking about
29:04managing the championship.
29:05This is going to be the best
29:06opportunity he's had in a while.
29:08Et cetera, et cetera.
29:09And then pointing to Lucas Coonan
29:12being the rookie.
29:13Nothing to lose.
29:14Absolutely everything to gain.
29:15Being fearless.
29:16What we saw last week.
29:18Coonan winning all three races.
29:19Bringing that points deficit down
29:21to 43 points.
29:23Bit of a moment there for Favre.
29:25But already with Favre leading the way.
29:28Coonan in fourth.
29:29That gap has already gone out to 52 points.
29:34So talk about race management
29:35and championship management.
29:36Both coming in abundance in this
29:38first race in Spain for Roman Favre.
29:43And how much of that is down to the experience,
29:46the wise head on those shoulders.
29:55See what?
29:56Doesn't like those waves, does he?
29:59Tell you what, he's like a magnet drawn to the ground
30:02on this part of the racetrack.
30:04Still trying to save it at the end of the straight.
30:06Silky smooth Roman Favre though.
30:16Working his way towards the two lap board.
30:21Into those waves, seven waves uphill.
30:27Two, two, one.
30:29If you take that outside.
30:32Two to go for the Frenchman.
30:36Again, just launch that back brake.
30:39Clutch in.
30:40And then at some point just, it's all feeling at that moment in time.
30:48The thing just comes around on you.
30:50Then you just release the clutch, release the brake.
30:52Open up that gas nicely.
30:54Not too, not too abruptly.
30:57And then it just picks up the slide.
31:04Favre and Gilbert.
31:06Gilbert, to be fair, probably trying to stay out of the way there,
31:08but didn't have a lot of room to work because an inch the other side to his right
31:12is knee deep in the proverbial, isn't it?
31:17A little bit of Brad Pitt over on that right-hand side.
31:20Quite a lot of it, actually.
31:27Siwa, it's not been his race, has it?
31:34Out of 11th, 12th, 13th.
31:38Out of second earlier on in the race.
31:40Siwa now looking like he's out of the points, potentially, in this race.
31:46That was him in the woods just a moment ago.
31:49I'm not sure if we have that crash or if it was just the aftermath of it,
31:52but Siwa, his race really coming unstuck.
31:55And then you look at the contrast here.
32:04The Frenchman, barely a speck of dirt on him.
32:09Pulled a foxhole shot.
32:10And he's on his way towards the chequered flag.
32:22Just one more lap to go for the Frenchman.
32:24Dealing with a little bit of traffic here.
32:39Roman van de Mostijk trying to hold a line there.
32:43Fetford gave him the big panic rev just to let him know that he's there.
32:46All of a sudden Roman van de Mostijk said,
32:47Oh, okay, I'll just sit here, go even tighter.
32:52Keeping an eye on Siwa.
32:53Yeah, he's down at 18th now.
32:55From 14th.
32:57Renaud looks like he's stabilized the gap between himself and Ruben Fernandes.
33:10Fernandes now four seconds adrift of the Frenchman.
33:13It's going to be a French one-two if it stays like this.
33:16With Roman Fevre edging Maxime Renaud.
33:19It's like a throwback to round one, isn't it?
33:22When they went one-two in the first race in Argentina.
33:29Maxime Renaud coming up a little bit short there.
33:31There's Fernandes in the background.
33:37Very unpredictable racetrack.
33:39Maxime Renaud just trying to get in and out of those turns efficiently as possible.
33:56Fernandes has got the gap down to less than four seconds,
33:58but we are on the final lap.
34:00Maxime Renaud just trying to manage this gap now.
34:03But for Roman Fevre,
34:06who has led every single one of the 16 laps on offer.
34:23Here's Fernandes.
34:24He's the hero of the race as far as the French fans are concerned.
34:27But Roman Fevre, pressure, what pressure.
34:30He's dealt with it in abundance out of the final turn.
34:33And Roman Fevre wins race one.
34:37His third race win of the season.
34:42Career race win number 51 for the Frenchman.
34:45Maxime Renaud crossed the line in second position.
34:48Ruben Fernandes third.
34:50And Lucas Kunin crossing the line in fourth place.
35:02He'll hope to come out firing on all cylinders in race two.
35:06And I guess a lot of that depends on how quickly the track crew can go to work.
35:09Starting with the start straight the first turn.
35:12Maybe even the run down into turn two.
35:14And how they can open up the racetrack.
35:17To make racing a little bit better.
35:19Less one line in places.
35:20They'll look at the track and say,
35:21right here is okay here though.
35:23And they're kind of funneling in too much.
35:26And there's no opportunity to overtake.
35:28So I would imagine, I would expect and I would imagine.
