01:00I think in the back, if they want to catch those four guys, they need to commit with a full team, like pulling in front of the peloton rather than go on solo attacks, so I reckon they can stay clear. For the moment, it doesn't seem like a team is really...
01:15Here we go, there we are. Tornelli has got across to Dries de Bott. Now this is wonderful news for Palti visit Malta. They've done what VF group Bardiani weren't able to do.
01:24Now remember that when they get to the first intermediate sprint, which isn't too far away, 8 km away at Gjorm, there are no bonus seconds available.
01:34There are points in the Malia Ciclamino, which is interesting. I'll have a look at those standings shortly.
01:39But there's also the intermediate sprint overall standing, and Alessandro Tornelli is in second place to Manoeli Tarozzi, who's back in the bunch.
01:50Decided that whatever they've been doing, they needed to change it.
01:54Here we are, approaching the intermediate sprint at Gjorm. Tornelli finds himself on the front. Josh Tarling not getting involved.
02:02No, Mark Donovan signalling his intention to target that classification. And one big acceleration gets the job done.
02:11Caught everyone on the hop there. Tornelli will pick up two points to increase his tally. Will he?
02:15Germani, though, trying to steal those points off the Italian. So Tornelli pushed back into third place as Donovan picks up first place.
02:22In that corner, a couple of hundred meters to go. He's on Tornelli's wheel, just keeping an eye on the Italian.
02:27De Bont finds himself on the front. Tornelli tries to make the move.
02:33No, nobody. Nobody. That's interesting.
02:36Really unexpected, to be honest.
02:38At least De Bont from Mark Donovan from Germani. So, completely wrong. We should stop speculating.
02:44Actually, I was surprised, though.
02:46Trying to get back on, scrabbling. The Laird has dropped not far from the top. Still within a chance, having a chance of getting back on.
02:53Yeah. There's a Bidon flying through the air.
02:59Good position, not a good for sure and aboard any possible follow-up.
03:13Good job, Charlie. If you were to score maximum points here, potentially, he'd be moving up into...
03:24He wouldn't be able to wear the jersey yet. So, there's this good Chris Houghton going for it as well alongside Adam Zappertone.
03:30And by the looks of Hamilton, by the way, the first he'd be, not expected.
03:35Really interesting route for Chris Houghton.
03:37Now he's in the first position for Lidl Trek.
03:39He's such a good climber, isn't he, Donovan?
03:41Yeah.
03:42For the size of that.
03:42Very powerful. Very powerful.
03:44Yesterday, pretty much, in a very good time trial.
03:49The whole team performed very good as a team.
03:52They had three guys up there because Ula, Vacek and Pedersen, the three of them, they did a very good performance.
04:02So, today, they're all on our duty, like it was on the first day, like bossing.
04:06A short while ago, as we switch our attention to the front of the race,
04:09and Chris Hamilton and Alessandro Tonelli are about to have company.
04:13Fortunat is powering and really on the edge here, struggling to hold on on wheels.
04:21Seems like there's a little bit of a gap.
04:25Astana XDS this year was on the hunt for a duel, which is on a hunt for points, but maybe also for the victory.
04:32You know, now it's 38 kilometers to go, and within the descent there's going to be not much left to be ridden on the flight.
04:39So, Fortunat on top, passing the line of KOM in first position, and Peo Bilbao in second.
04:46...into Koenig's Fabio van den Bosca.
04:48Van den Bosca now positioning himself alongside Matthijs Vacek.
04:52They're strong, waiting to open up his sprint, but everyone is waiting for Maz Pedersen to go.
04:56Vacek, still on the front, and it's Marcellusi, Fiorelli on the wheel then, trying to find room ahead of Stefano Aldani.
05:02Still Vacek goes, still Vacek goes, but now it's Pedersen.
05:06Pedersen explodes on the front.
05:08Corbin Strong alongside him, Corbin Strong from New Zealand, but Pedersen is going to hold them all off.
05:14Win number two for Maz Pedersen, and with it, the Magliarosa.
05:18Perfection from Pedersen, and from Lidl Trek, they have done it.
05:23What a day of racing that was.
05:25Matt, you wanted a photocopy of stage one.
05:29Is it what you wanted?
05:30Did it happen how you wanted?
05:31Yeah, this was the plan from this morning, to put a good pace on the long climb, to control it for ourselves, and give me a breath there, so I didn't have to go over the limit.
05:45Yeah, everyone from the team just did super amazing on the climb, and also before, and then from the climb on, it was controlling as far as we could, and then we hope for some drag race.
05:58And it was exactly as we wanted, and then Ciccone and Vacek there doing an amazing lead out, so wow, to have two stage victories already, and now back in the pink, that's exactly what we wanted today.
06:11Is it even more amazing from Ciccone, a climber, to be with you in the final kilometer?
06:19I wouldn't say so, but it shows something about his character and the person he is, that he has ambitions somewhere else, but still he is here committed to the team, and helping me in a lead out like this.
06:30This shows what we can do on Lidl Trek, and we are supporting each other everywhere, even if it's not in our positions of the race.
06:37So I can't wait to come to the mountains and give back to Ciccone.
06:42Were you surprised to see Primoz Roglic next to you within one kilometer to go? Did you think he wanted to keep the Malia Rosa?
06:49No, of course I'm not surprised with this guy. He also wants to be up there to avoid any accidents or anything, and for sure if he could keep the jersey, he would like to, but yeah, it didn't surprise me to see him there at all.
07:03Thank you very much.
07:04Thank you.
07:07Thank you.
