00:00We've come here to support my daughter and her boyfriend they're running for a charity that
00:06they're supporting cardiac risk in the young and we've watched them start near Headingley
00:14and then we've come over in the car to catch them at just after the midway point Joe's gone past
00:20he's running a little bit better pace than Phoebe we're looking forward to seeing her come around
00:24this bend and take this what looks like a mammoth hill. It's obviously the third year it's been
00:29run I'm an Otley resident and came down the first I'm a local I run for the local running club as
00:35well so the first year it was around I just came down to support friends and was just blown away
00:40by the amazing atmosphere and support around the course so I said I was going to do it the following
00:44year so I did it last year I had a pretty good I had a pretty good run and really really enjoyed my
00:48time so I thought I'll have another year off this year and support and probably run it again next year
00:53I'm here in the main to support my nephew Thomas O'Donnell he's run this Rob Burroughs
00:59for the since it started and today he's finished seventh overall I believe I'm not 100% certain but
01:05I know he's done very very well and him and his friends do a great amount of fundraising for this
01:12particular cause. We're here to support Western Port Charity we've got my mum's running group
01:18Huggies what is it called? Huggies. Huggies Running Club. They're all here running for their friend Kate
01:25who's unfortunately dying of cancer soon and they're all here to raise money. It's been pretty good we're
01:30here to support our old housemate Sebby Nicholson and our other mate Dylan Groves. Yeah the day's been
01:37good here nice weather. Love you. Yeah everyone's out supporting its class. Good to see them as well.
01:43Yeah they're giving it some as well. They love it. I did support my daughter Laura McNeil it's her first
01:50marathon and the atmosphere's been magical just like a big family everybody's happy. Yeah I mean it's been a
01:58great sunny day aren't it and you can see you know obviously there's people who are proper
02:04competent runners and those that are here to enjoy the day that are doing their best. We're here today
02:08supporting our friend Paula and she's running for Diabetes UK so really good cause and we know her
02:15because we're all part of the same Dragon Boat Racing Club which is the Yorkshire Sharks. She did the
02:20half marathon last year so she thought right this year I'm going to go all in I'm going to do like the full
02:24marathon and I've actually seen her doing some of her training and sometimes with all in silence
02:28stuff like this. I feel a bit bad because when I've been doing that I've been driving past in
02:31the car just like waving. She's absolutely smashed all the training. It's a really great atmosphere
02:35and it always is and yeah everyone's doing so well despite the heat. I think it just says a lot
02:41about Leeds as a city. I feel like just a community of Leeds. Everyone loves Leeds. Everyone helps each other
02:47like divided at all really. The achievement of all the runners uh whether they finish or not that just to
02:53take part is fantastic. First time I've been to watch a marathon absolutely loving it and looking forward
02:58to the rest of the race.
