A week on from being cleared of rape charges, Jack Tweed has spoken out admitting to letting down his late wife Jade Goody and vowing to tame his partying ways.

In an interview with the Sunday Mirror, the 22-year-old also says he wants to stand by the promise he made to Jade and play a part in her children's lives.

Bobby, six and Freddy, five live with their father Jeff Brazier, who has reportedly banned Jack from seeing them since he went off the rails after her death.

In the interview with the Sunday paper, Jack says that Jeff did "absolutely the right thing" as he "was in a mess," but said he now wants to prove he can be there for the boys as he "loves them to bits."

"I know I've messed up and I'm sorry. I'm the first to admit I'm immature but I'll prove I can be there for Bobby and Freddy."

Jack was cleared of rape last week after the jury reached a verdict of not guilty in under half an hour.

Jack told the Sunday Mirror that when the jury went out to make their verdict he "went to the toilet and prayed to Jade" and said: "'You know I didn't do it but I'm so sorry. I've been an idiot and I let you down'."

Jack married Jade Goody in February 2009 but she lost her battle against cervical cancer a month later.
