Eshile festival is a traditional marriage ceremony performed annually (in January) in Ivie Communities, Etsako East local government area of Edo state, Nigeria. During the ceremony, the bridegroom is carried on the shoulders of one of his friends (best man) amidst drumming and singing by his relations in the town's square, and to the bride's home.
As the bridegroom gyrates atop of his friend's shoulders, he throws down money (mainly coins) for the children to pick. This ceremony precedes the movement of the bride from her parents' home to her husband's home few hours later.
