Cambodian couple reaps the benefits of biogas

Only 13% of Cambodia's rural population are connected to electricity. This makes the activities of day to day life an ongoing struggle, and meaningful development difficult to achieve. Households rely on kerosene, car batteries, wood and charcoal for lighting and cooking -- all of these create health, fire and environmental risks, and they drain household resources. A pro-poor biogas project in Kampong Speu province, set up by Christian Aid and DanChurchAid partner Life With Dignity, is helping people like Sou Et, 57 and Em Ouern, 55 generate energy more cleanly, cheaply and sustainably from cow dung. And cheaper energy isn't the only benefit.
