PRESENTED BY SIR-VERE BROUGHT TO YOU IN ASSOCIATION WITH notourfuture.co.nz & ripitup.co.nz
VY LIES are thrilled to confirm the title and release date of their eagerly anticipated debut album - LITTLE MIND GAMES. Two years in the making and spanning L.A and N.Z for production duties, LITTLE MIND GAMES was recorded in L.A with producer extraordinaire Clif Magness (Grammy Award winner and responsible for penning hits for Avril Lavigne & Kelly Clarkson), Clif recalls his time with the band "Working with Ivy Lies was fantastic... their songwriting and musicianship is top notch. It was a true pleasure working with them."
The album is a dynamic collection of songs including the vibrant first single "Addicted" which was #1 on NZ iTunes alternative chart, #1 on MySpace Music Chart & it debuted at #3 on C4 to rave reviews and was also used as C4's promo song over summer 2010! Their 2nd Single "Never Enough" climbed up the chart steadily, the girls got to host the Edge's Top 40 show to debut the single's release. "I Lie Awake" their 3rd single was released to rave reviews and was the C4 'Record of the Week' & was in the top ten on iTunes. Their eagerly awaited 4th single "Highway" is going to be a sure fire hit with a great 'live' video documenting their tours.
The Trio, originally from Christchurch (New Zealand), were formally under the name 'Starlett' while the girls were still at school. This is where the band caught the eye of SonyBMG, who then signed the band to a development deal, when they were only 17 years old. The band then moved up to Auckland in 2008 to hit the live circuit and integrate themselves in the local music scene.
LITTLE MIND GAMES erupts with loud hooks, anthemic ballads and punchy pop energy. Emla Palmer (vocals / gat), Rosie (drummer) and Lisa Blatchford (bass / vocals) all equally contribute to the songwriting duties, with each band member submitting ideas for experimentation. Lisa says "Writing and recording this album was a lot of fun, it was such a buzz in LA and a privilege to write songs with Cliff, we gelled really well together."
Raised on a musical diet of Jimmy Eat World, Ivy Lies have created their own distinctive style that has seen them requested for festivals and performances from recently supporting "You Me At Six" on the NZ leg of their world tour, the Coke Summer Beach Series Tour, The Edge Winter Jam (playing alongside B.O.B and J. Williams) and to the current School's Out For Summer Tour (with label mate Dane Rumble).
Having spanned the length and breadth of New Zealand performing, IVY LIES are now adding the final touches on their own piece of musical history in the form of LITTLE MIND GAMES, lead singer Emla Palmer says "To finally have an album finished is a pretty good feeling. It's been a long haul but we got there."
