With powerful vocals and intricate arrangements, Tatiana Kochkareva's intelligent indie-rock is both dynamic and haunting; a result of her early classical and jazz training mixed with her love of rock music greats like Pink Floyd and Queen. A Moscow native with a passionate voice evoking comparisons to Nina Simone, Kochkareva will release her third album, Infinity, on April 19, 2012.

Brooklyn Academy of Music says Kochkareva's "voice eschews indie preciousness for richer timbres, bringing a worldly depth to songs about everything from personal triumph and tragedy to social graces and dreams."

Written over the last three years, Kochkareva's upcoming Infinity was recorded with Jeff Berner (Naam, Tigercity, Wakey!Wakey!) at Brooklyn's GaluminumFoil studios, and is set for release on April 19, 2012. The album features Sarab Singh, Spencer Cohen, Daniel Platzman on drums; Jeff Berner, Michael Feinberg on bass; Jeff Berner on drum programming/sequencing and guitar; and Tatiana Kochkareva on vocals, keyboard and harmonium.

Infinity marks a more eclectic take on Kochkareva's sound and is filled with electric elements and sonic experimentation. "We didn't limit ourselves to using typical rock instrumentation or the implied and organic sound of the instruments that were played," she said. Each song on Infinity is sung, recorded and produced in completely different ways, to represent the different emotional sentiments; thus naturally sonically contrasting. "It's very much an emotional album, where the most important role of the production was to recreate the feeling that was originally put into the song," she said.

The hauntingly powerful first single, "Winter," represents the end of something that used to be dear and a certain melancholy that comes with it; an inescapable process we all go through at many points of our lives. "To me, winter is one of the main symbols of metamorphosis. It's the last season of the year and brings us to a certain finale. We see it in nature, when suddenly everything stands still and freezes in time until it can come back to life," she said.

Infinity continues to build on Kochkareva's reputation as a dynamic vocal powerhouse, instrumentalist and indie-rock artist, with her stirring music and enchanting live performances leading the way. Look for Tatiana Kochkareva's Infinity on April 19, 2012.
