This posting is a little more recent than what I usually upload. The reason of this is the Civil War which basically during several years simply paralyzed cultural life in Spain, a country of which jazz music is hardly known. This is a sad omission. Although jazz was significantly less prominent than in the Anglosaxon world, many great musicians worked in this country, like the ones performing in the Quinteto Saratoga. The Quinteto Saratoga was one of the ensembles led by José Puertas, who was a versatile jazz musician (trumpet, piano, violin) and led several combos and bands in the 30's-50's. This brilliant recording was made in 1941.
