Surprisingly little is known about this bandleader, who co-led Detroit's Oriole Terrace, where he premiered the ensemble in partnership with Ted Fio Rito, who in a first stage played in Russo's orchestra. As this band roamed the midwest throughout the mid-'20s, it became known as the Russo-Fio Rito Orchestra. The Russo Band recorded several sessions in the Brunswick Studios at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Most of these recordings were released under the Dan Russo & The Oriole Orchestra name, but some were released under other band names. However, at some point, apparently Russo and Fio Rito pursued a separate career. However I could find only extremely scarce and conflcting information. Any additional background input is warmly welcomed. Anyhow, this excellent record was made in 1932. I could not identify the uncredited vocalist.
