Spencer Pond Camps - Maine Family Vacation - Lakefront Cabin Rental Accommodations
Step back in time into . . . Six "off the grid" authentic wilderness lakeside housekeeping cabins – each with its own unique personality. The cabins are fully furnished for comfort -with homemade quilts, games, cozy spots to relax, and warm woodstoves. Cabins have docks, canoes, kayaks, and mountain bikes included at no extra charge so you can enjoy fishing, wildlife watching, and paddling on Spencer Pond. Screened porches on each camp allow you to sit comfortably and watch wildlife, listen to yodeling loons or enjoy the quiet whispering of the wind through the pines. No need to pack your tent, sleeping bag, tarps, cookstove, or camper trailer (these cabins have everything you will need).
Hidden deep in the woods (14 miles from our nearest neighbors and the only cabins on Big Spencer Pond!) our surroundings and rustic-cozy cabins offer you a piece of living history amidst scenic beauty. Enjoy the beauty and bounty of our pristine natural surroundings. Fish, hike, hunt, canoe, read, nap, bird watch, mountain bike, photograph, stargaze, build a campfire – we would love to share this remote paradise with you.
Our little piece of heaven is located beneath the shadow of Little Spencer Mountain on Big Spencer Pond in Maine’s Moosehead Lake Region. We are Recognized by the State of Maine as a certified Environmental Leader. We are eco-friendly while remaining balanced with real Native Maine sporting camp traditions. Completely “unplugged and off grid” you can unwind and reconnect yourself to the natural world. The location is adjacent to the Thoreau Wabanaki Trail, Maine Birding Trail and the Northern Forest Canoe Trail as well as the Moosehead Lake Region & Maine’s Wild North Woods.
Established in 1901 by Mose Duty, a young Maine guide who began clearing land and felling logs on these grounds to build his cabin. He named it Sabotowan – the Abenaki word for nearby Big Spencer Mountain. From this first cabin the history of Spencer Pond Camps was born. Christine and Dana are both registered Maine Guides who take pride in sharing the splendor of the Maine Woods with our guests.
The Magic of Spencer beckons you to come take a step back in time and stay in one of our remote wilderness cabins. Come experience for yourself the unsurpassed scenic splendor and enchanted natural beauty of this special place the way life used to be.
