Hollywood’s live action Death Note movie is in the works and now there’s news that they might be going for an R rating.

They’ve already cast 2 of the lead roles and hired Adam Wingard (director of You’re Next & The Guest) to direct, but that’s not the most interesting news. The success of the R Rated comic book movie Deadpool has producers clamoring about what else could get hardcore adaptations and Death Note Producer, Roy Lee, is no exception. He has announced that they will be making the film at least R rated (whatever that means).

Anna and Casey are going to try to figure out what that means and discuss whether or not Death Note is the right kind of property to aim for an R rating.

Are you excited about the American Death Note movie? Have you seen the Japanese live action movies? Have you read the manga or watched the anime? Do you think they should aim for an R rating? What would make an R rating necessary?
