Many members of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas spent part of their Easter week drawing an enormous chalk portrait of Jesus in the church’s parking lot.

The image covers an area of approximately 17 thousand square feet and took over 65 hundred pieces of chalk and 125 bags of charcoal to complete.

It’s hoped that the drawing will inspire widespread interest in the church in the days leading up to the holiday.

Said Fellowship Church’s pastor, "Easter is always a time of celebration, reflection, and renewal. This giant chalk drawing on our church's parking lot is just a great way to connect with so many people and to remind us what this week is all about. We're excited to do this as we attempt to make history by pointing to the greatest story in history!"

The history he’s talking about making is setting a world record.

Whether or not that happens, the effort will be seen by a lot of people.

Thousands of airline passengers pass over it every day on their way to and from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
