Tusk survives confidence vote but Polish wiretap scandal rumbles on

The Polish government has survived a vote of no-confidence in parliament, brought about by the ongoing wiretapping scandal.
Starting last week a string of revelations the government is attributing to a foreign or criminal conspiracy have shown various ministers make unguarded comments on a range of sensitive issues.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has been on the back foot as his foreign, finance and interior ministers were shown to think the alliance with America was worthless, and that Poland was like a “slave” to Washington.
The magazine publishing the revelations, Vprost, has not revealed its source, but Tusk says it may be an attempt to undermine his pro-EU administration.
It also comes as the EU sorts out its top jobs for the next five years, but Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski may now have compromised his chances of taking over from Catherine Ashton as head of foreign policy.
