One more Tango Thursday! Don Segundo Sombra, an Uruguayan tango, was recorded in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1930. The vocalist is Antonio Baglione. (also Buglione) Fortunately, this side of the 85 year old '78 disc was in much better shape than the previously uploaded flip side~Queja Melodiosa. Columbia 5333B, Columbia Brazil Phonograph Co. The 78 was a gift from Mike W, the gentleman who loaned me the Groos Collection of San Antonio, Texas to transcribe and share on YT and DM.
Minotto di Cicco was born in Montevideo in 1898. He studied piano and accordian and became a master of the Bandoneon. While only 19, he partnered the Alonso-Minotto Orquesta and recorded 18 sides for Victor/Argentina in Buenos Aires. He continued to record throughout the 1920s-30s and in the lates 1920s, moved to Buenos Aires where he was in constant demand at clubs and cafes. He retired in Montevideo where he died in 1979.
