UN court rejects rival claims of genocide

The UN's highest court, the International Court of Justice, rejected rival claims of genocide leveled by Croatia and Serbia over atrocities committed during the bloody conflict from 1991 to 1995 resulting from the breakup of Yugoslavia. Judge Peter Tomka dismissed both the Croatian claim and the Serbian counter-claim. He said forces on both sides had carried out violent acts but that neither had provided sufficient evidence to demonstrate the "specific intent required for acts of genocide". teleSUR
