Reviving Latin Lunes and this is a reply to a Marimba 78 uploaded by one of the gang members this week. The Marimba Centroamericana de Guatemala recorded Capitan Betty at the Victor Studios in Camden, New Jersey April 17, 1917. The marimba became popular in Guatemala in the early 1900s and is that country's national instrument. Capitan Betty~Victor 18292A, flip side; Besame One Step~Victor 18292B. The band recorded 10 sides for Victor in April 1917. This record followed records by the Hurtado Brothers Royal Marimba Band of Guatemala which started a marimba craze in the US in 1916.
