Luca Ferraris is a talented, young Italian singer-songwriter, composer, pianist, drummer, percussionist and multi-instrumentalist. Born in Pordenone in 1980, but has been living in Padua for over a decade now.
Ferraris has released two albums: “Passante” (2008) and “Viaggi senza ritornello” (2012) and, is currently working on his third album. The songs from his second album “Viaggi senza ritornello”, have a distinctive “on the road” style, trademark of a brilliant storyteller. These songs were, each, conceived in different geographical locations, such as: Prague, Made (Morocco), Real De Catorce (Mexico), Cartagena (Spain), Puerto Canal, Cuzco (Peru), Padua, Naples (Italy).
Ferraris sings with gracious, direct, poetic, ironic and sincere sympathy, about the pains, joys and dignity of human beings living at all latitudes which he, as a street musician, has first-hand knowledge of. He captures the reality of everyday life, often hard, cruel and threatened by the impersonal aspects of the so-called progress. His style condemns, entertains, seduces and makes one think.
Ferraris’ music is influenced by a variety of different genres: from
Traditional Italian music to Latin American, Cuban, Klezmer, Balkan, from Jazz, Swing, Italian folk to traditional Gypsy folk and, last but not least, his pieces draw inspiration from traditional Arab and Neapolitan music .
They also recall the works of of Roberto Murolo and especially, those of the unforgettable Renato Carosone.
