We are delighted to announce a performance by this Jamaican DJ! Brigadier Jerry gained legendary status in Jamaican dancehall music in the late seventies and eighties with his conscious style and improvisational abilities. He was born as Robert Russell in the Papine region of Kingston on September 28th, 1957.

After his beginnings as a stand-up comedian at a young age, Briggy moved to dancehall music, becoming a member of the Stur Gav Hi-Fi crew owned by U Roy. Then in 1978, he joined Jah Love Muzik, the sound system of the Rasta Twelve Tribes of Israel organization. Among the big names of the golden era of Jamaican music, Brigadier Jerry best embodies the conscious reggae sound.
