Honduras: Zelaya Proposes New Electoral Law

Former Honduran president Manuel Zelaya, ousted in a 2009, coup'd etat, and his opposition Libre Party are proposing a new electoral law that would be a step toward democratizing the country's electoral system. The proposal includes eliminating state funding, regulating private campaign financing and banning drug money, political party representation on the electoral council, and a second round vote if no candidate receives a majority. Zelaya says he will not support the proposal by current president Juan Orlando Hernandez on reelection. Gerardo Torres reports from Tegucigalpa.
