PATHANKOT, INDIA — An Indian teen is the latest casualty in a string of selfie-related incidents that have plagued the country in recent years.

The Indian Express reports that 15-year-old Ramandeep Singh was posing for a selfie with a gun to his head when he accidentally shot himself. The boy had taken his father's loaded .32 caliber bore revolver and was using it as a selfie prop.

The gun's safety catch was not in place, allowing the weapon to fire when Singh accidentally pulled the trigger. He was shot in the head rushed to the hospital, but later died from his injuries, reports the Times of India.

India currently tops the list for most number of selfie deaths, according to CNN. Of the 49 fatalities reported worldwide over three years, the country accounts for 19, or almost 40 percent.

In Mumbai, authorities designated 15 dangerous no-selfie zones in January to address the high number of selfie-related accidents.
