The Soberanes Fire has burned more than 23,000 acres since it started in Monterey, California, on Friday, July 22. The fire destroyed at least 22 structures and threatened 2,000 others, prompting the mandatory evacuation for areas north of Big Sur, according to ABC7. A bulldozer operator working alongside firefighters died after his bulldozer went down steep terrain near the fire.
