Cops trying to keep me safe is debatable at best, and why should I care they're trying to enforce laws when half the laws they enforce I don't agree with? They sure are making me safer by locking up little Timmy for possession of pot.
Refusing to help the people that are trying to lower crime and help those who have been attacked and abused is beyond me.
OP's example was domestic abuse, a crime you can be locked up for just on the words of a single person. One of the highest amounts of false prosecution you can find in a crime.
