Sean Tyler Searle, an avalanche survivor, collapsed when he was reunited with his wife in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area in Routt County, Colorado, on February 14. Searle had just been rescued from the deadly avalanche that killed his riding partner.The Steamboat Today reported Searle, a resident of Franktown, Colorado, was found by Routt County Search and Rescue after patrol jumped on snowmobiles around Sheriff Reservoir in Garfield County. Rescuers found the deceased man before finding Searle, who was yelling about 100 yards away. Rescuers tracked footsteps and found that Searle had written “help” in the snow with an arrow, which lead the helicopter rescue, according to the Steamboat Today.
Searle’s riding partner, Jesse Christensen, a local musician in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, was killed when he was buried. Searle was able to dig him from the snow and tried to perform CPR but was too late. Credit: Matt Stensland via Storyful
