Consumers have often been served the healthy and positive aspects gained by using artificial sweeteners through clever marketing done by the food industry. Now medical scientists are warning this may not be the case. A recent study conducted by researchers at the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Disease reviewed the way children and adults absorb artificial sweeteners into the blood stream, and the findings are raising concerns. The study found that the chemicals Sucralose and acesulfame-potassium presented at a higher rate in younger participants who used the sweeteners which would create a long term effects, that negatively influence a child's future taste, diet preferences and metabolic rate.
