On Friday, an act to legalize the use of medical marijuana was passed unanimously by German parliamentarians, who first approved the bill back in May. According to sources, the new "cannabis as medicine" law will come into effect in Germany March 2017. Germany's Federal Ministry of Health said in a statement that people with multiple sclerosis and other severe illnesses will be able to obtain the drug legally with a prescription. The bill will also let doctors prescribe marijuana or cannabis to patients for whom the drug could alleviate symptoms, such as chronic pain or nausea.
