Fixated on Kydex? Believe that it's the only material that's fit to make holsters with? A whole lot of people have been convinced that it is...but Alien Gear doesn't.

You might have noticed an entirely different polymer is used in our ShapeShift Modular Holster System, vastly different to kydex and our previous holster shells. There's a serious reason for that.

The reason why Kydex is so popular as a holster material is for two reasons. First, it's just durable enough to serve well as a holster material. It's rather hard, and provided it isn't abused a Kydex holster will last a good long while.

However, it has a relatively low tolerance for heat. Apply a bit of heat - less than 200 degrees F is sufficient - and Kydex starts to deform plastically, allowing it to bend, lose shape and so on. That makes it easy to mold.

Great for holster makers. Not so great if you leave your holster in a car on a hot day. The interior temperature of a car on a 100 degree F day can reach almost 150 degrees, which is enough to deform a Kydex holster.

But not the ShapeShift.

The ShapeShift holster is molded from an ultra-durable proprietary polymer blend with identical properties to polymers used to make the very pistols that people will carry in their ShapeShift holster. In other words, it's as tough as the gun you holster in the ShapeShift.

A little heat? No problem. A bit of rough handling? No sweat. Carrying in a tough environment? Bring it on. The ShapeShift will handle it in any configuration.

Instead of relying on conventional wisdom, we set out to make a holster that you can depend on as surely as you depend on your firearm for your protection.

Instead of just getting another holster, shift over to a better holster.
