PESHAWAR: Khybera Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General (IG) of Police Salahuddin Mehsud on Friday said a timely operation helped security forces to restrict terrorists’ movement.

Addressing a press conference here, Mehsud said police reached the site of attack within 3 to 5 minutes after terrorists stormed the Peshawar Agriculture Directorate.

“It was the timely response to Peshawar Agriculture Directorate terror attack that restricted the terrorists’ movement,” he remarked.

He said four ‘burqa-clad’ terrorists arrived at premises of the agriculture directorate in a rickshaw. “Three of them were killed during the operation while identity of a fourth suspected attacker is being ascertained,” Mehsud revealed.

Security forces shot dead all three terrorists in ‘suicide belts’, he added.

Mehsud said police recovered three suicide jackets and 20 hand grenades from possessions of the slain terrorists, adding, six students and a watchman were among the dead.

In response to a question, the IG said a probe into the identity of slain attackers was underway.
