Mellow steht im Englischen für sanfte, weiche und liebliche Töne. Mellowtone, das ist stimmungsvoller bis psychedelischer Trip Hop mit Einflüssen aus Pop, Rock und Indie. eingängige Musik, sanfte Leidenschaft, schnörkellos und doch unendlich vielfältig.
Geprägt werden diese Mellow Tones durch die starke Stimme der Sängerin Martina Birbaum, welche die Musik von Mellowtone mal melancholisch, mal mitreissend, aber stets unverkennbar macht.
Gegründet wurde die Freiburger Band 2008. drei Jahre später folgte das Debut-Album Acts of love und mit ihm auch eine erste Konzert-Tournee durch die Schweiz und Deutschland. Ende 2012 und Anfang 2014 folgten zwei weitere Singles, December und Train Station, anfang 2016 folgte das zweite Studio-album: «Broken Rooms».
Mellow means smooth, sweet, lovely. the band's sound ranges from ambient to psychedelic trip hop, influenced by pop, rock and indie. mellowtone, that's catchy music, soft passion, without frills but endlessly versatile.
These mellow tones are shaped by the strong voice of singer Martina Birbaum, who makes the music of Mellowtone sometimes melancholic, sometimes stirring, but always unmistakable.
The band from Fribourg was founded in 2008. three years later, the debut-album acts of love was published and a first set of concerts was played in Switzerland and Germany. two singles, december and train station were released in 2012 and 2014, the second album «broken rooms» came out in january 2016.
