Original Song | Concentricity

I was scrolling through my social media feed, and I saw a thing. And I felt some feelings. But I can’t express myself very well, so didn’t comment on the post like a normal person might’ve. I wrote a song. It was this one. This makes two songs written/recorded in one day, so...that’s probably not good. But I got a lot of other stuff done today too. Promise!

The sentiment of this song is whatever you want it to be, but to me, it is essentially how even when we have so much unity and common foundational motivations, humanity is so vast and diverse. And even if we share a unifying moral core, no one is immune to corruption or fault.

Musically, this song is a weirdy, and excessively fun to play. The verse is just variants on E, followed by an F#. Progressively, the verses start with shapes up around the 14th fret, and then it slowly descends down the neck, step by step as the chorus becomes more frustrated/frenzied, ending at the F# on the 2nd fret before pausing, and beginning the cycle again. It’s kind of a meditative experience to play and hit the shapes.

I had originally envisioned it as a more keyboard/electronic piece, but I sat down and the guitar took me away, so...here it is. I may redo this later with piano. We shall see!

Lyrics:
human concentration
lost in constellations
we are all complacEnt
and we wonder where the day went
we all are

in proximity
to high toxiCity
lost in symmetry
lost its imagery
lost our innocence
lost in ignorance
watCh how far we went
in concentricity

human idEations
in all their variations
we have lost our patients
and we woNder how to save it
we all are

in proximity
to high Toxicity
lost in symmetry
lost its imageRy
lost our innocence
lost in Ignorance
watch how far we went
in Concentricity

human metaphysIcs
we say that we don’t know specifics
we are all complicit
if we all refuse to lisTen
we all are

in proximity
to high toxicity
lost in symmetrY
lost its imagery
lost our innocence
lost in ignorance
watch how far we went
in concentricity
