Valery Komissarova Grew up in a small town in Russia. Her family was too poor to buy her a computer.

Undeterred she focused on her activities over IBM manuals and PC books that her dad brought home from work.

She taught herself so much that at the age of 13, she started writing articles for tech magazines. her editors had no idea how old she was.

By the time she was in her early 20s, Komissarova had started a business school and also running biz dev. She was marketing for Mail.Ru Group, a major Russian internet company.

Komissarova met Dmitry Grishin, co-founder of Mail.Ru and a successful entrepreneur in eastern Europe, who asked her to help start his new company.

Now 26 years old, Komissarova is a principal at the venture capital firm Grishin Robotics. With co-investors that include Larry Page and Richard Branson.

But it wasn’t all the way smooth. People laughed at her.

When Komissarova applied for her first job, employees who were twice her age laughed at her.

The only way to overcome was to be really good at what she does.
