South Korea's National Assembly will convene an extraordinary session starting on this Friday... that will run for the next two weeks.
Putting an end to a 41 day vacuum,... rival parties will start this morning by electing a parliamentary speaker and two vice speakers for the latter half of the 20th National Assembly.
The agreement to get parliament back on track was reached Tuesday,... when rival parties agreed on the make-up of the leadership posts and its standing committees for the next two years.
The positions have been vacant since the end of May.
Next week, rival parties will fill parliament's 18 standing committees, while confirmation hearings for the nominee for commissioner general of the National Police Agency and three candidates for Supreme Court justice will also get underway during the 14-day session.
