PRESENTED BY YVETTE PICQUE

Genevieve Charbonneau is a Canadian singer-songwriter crafting tales of love, loss and rural living in between raising her three sons, harvesting veggies and hauling firewood. Though based in an old-time country tradition, Genevieve’s music focus is on strong lyrics that speak to current politics and modern relationships. Genevieve’s song Down Down Down won her the 2017 BC Songwriting Competition and was a Country/Bluegrass finalist for the 2017 International Acoustic Music Awards. Both of Genevieve’s albums “Updraft” and "Fine Line" were nominated for multiple Vancouver Island Music Awards and garnered 2014 and 2017 Producer of the Year awards.

Ivonne Hernandez is a prodigal fiddler and 2017 Juno award-winning musician from Victoria BC. At 13, Ivonne was the youngest member of the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra and formed Fiddlemania, a dual-violin band with her younger sister, Kalissa. Ivonne is the reigning 5 time Grand North American Fiddle Champion, and has performed with Mark O’Connor, Alan Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Jann Arden, U2’s the Edge, Natalie MacMaster, Ben Hepner and many others. She has toured and taught all over North America, the Caribbean, the UK and Ireland and Europe, and if that wasn’t enough, Ivonne was offered a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music and graduated in 3 years at the top of her class with a dual major in Violin Performance and Music Business & Management. Ivonne recently retired from her band The Fretless, a chamber-folk quartet that won a 2014 Western Canadian Music Award for Instrumental Album of the Year, 2014 Canadian Folk Music Award for Ensemble of the Year and a 2017 Juno for Instrumental Album of Year. Ivonne is the director of the accomplished Victoria-based youth fiddle orchestra Coastline and plays with Genevieve and the Wild Sundays.
