Emma Langford, Limerick-based music student and general mischief-maker.
Emma Kate Langford is a 23 year old indie-jazz singer, songwriter and guitarist from Limerick. She is a student of Voice and Dance at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, and is currently in her final year. Her studies include classical, Latin American and gospel music lending to her a versatile and unique vocal style and range, while her sense of humor and shrewd perception shine through her lyrics.
Emma first hit the local music scene less than 2 years ago showcasing her vocal stylings at the various open-mic nights both in the city and university venues quickly gaining a small army of fans and the respect of other local musicians.
2012 saw her invited to perform at the Limerick Elemental Arts Festival and the UL40 Celebrations and she has since been playing regular shows in local bars, cafes and larger venues, with her captivating vocal style and cheerful stage presence lending equally well to all these environs.
Emma has recently been offered support slots and guest appearances with internationally acclaimed artists including Louise McMahon, Hermitage Green, Senakah and Paddy Casey, as well as having worked closely with other local and national musicians.
She was also nominated in four categories for the Music Review Unsigned Artist Awards, has featured on Limericks Live 95fm and ULFM, and has begun arrangements and recording for her original tracks due to be released as an EP in 2013.
