Ingredients:
250 grams Sweet water fish
1 medium sized potato
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
3 tbsp mustard oil
4 tbsp onion paste
3 green chillies
4 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
Water as required
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves
Method of preparation:
Marinate the fish with turmeric and salt.
Heat oil in a vessel, fry the fish on both sides.
Once its fried well, remove it out on a plate and fry the potatoes in the same pan.
Heat oil in another vessel, add onion paste, tomato paste, cook it lightly.
Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin powder and cook it for a minute on high flame.
Add green chillies, water, salt, stir it well and allow it to cook on high flame.
Add potatoes while the curry is boiling.
Add in the fish as the curry starts to thicken and let it cook on medium flame for 2-3 minutes till the fish and potatoes are well cooked.
Garnish it with fresh coriander and our Macher Jhol is ready.
