Ingredients:
For Malvani Masala
3 Star Anise
4 Inch Cinnamon Sticks
Nutmeg (small)
1 1/2 Sichuan Pepper
1 1/2 tsp Cloves
1 tbsp Black Pepper
1 tbsp Black Stone Flower
1 Mace
1 tbsp Fennel Seeds
1 tsp Fenugreek Seeds
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
1 tbsp Black Cumin Seeds
4 tbsp Coriander Seeds
4 Green Cardamom Pods
25-30 Kashmiri Red Chillies
2 tbsp Poppy Seeds
For Misal
4 tbsp Oil
2 Onions (chopped)
1 1/2 tbsp Ginger - Garlic Paste
2 Tomatoes (chopped)
Malvani Masala
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 1/2 cup Black Peas (cooked)
Salt
1/2 cup Coconut Paste
3-4 cup Water
Coriander Leaves
Method: Let's start with heating up the pan and add Star Anise, Inch Cinnamon Sticks, Nutmeg (small), Sichuan Pepper, Cloves, Black Pepper, Black Stone Flower, Mace, Fennel Seeds, Fenugreek Seeds, Mustard Seeds, Black Cumin Seeds, Coriander Seeds, Green Cardamom Pods, Kashmiri Red Chillies. Next dry roast all the ingredients then add Poppy Seeds and roast all together. Next let it cool down and then grind it to the paste.
Now lets make Misal for which heat up the Oil in the pan and then add Onions (chopped), Ginger - Garlic Paste saute for few moments then add Tomatoes (chopped) mix it all together. Next add Malvani Masala into the Pan then add Turmeric Powder mix it again together and add Black Peas (cooked), Salt (as per your taste), Coconut Paste
mix it again properly, add Water. Next close the lid and let it cook for 10 minutes, after 10 minutes add Coriander Leaves to garnish and your Malvani Misal is ready to serve.
