Learn how to make मुगा आंबट - Mugachi Amti recipe from our chef Archana on Ruchkar Mejwani Karwar Special.

Mugachi Amti is a quick and easy Maharashtrian dal where sprouted moong dal is cooked in delicious masala paste and served with rice.

Ingredients:

For Masala Paste:
1 tbsp Oil
1/2 Cup Grated coconut
2 tbsp Coriander Seeds
7-8 Dry Red Chillies

250 gms Sprouted Moong
1 tbsp Oil
1 Green Chilli
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
15-20 Curry Leaves
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1/4 tsp Asafeotida
Salt to taste
Water

Method:

- To make the masala paste in a pan heat some oil.
- Add grated coconut, coriander seeds, dry red chillies. Saute everything for a minute.
- Let it cool down for some time and then grind it into a smooth paste. Keep this paste aside till further use.
- To make the amti, in a large sauce pan heat some oil.
- Add green chilli, mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafeotida and turmeric powder. Mix everything well.
- Then add sprouted moong dal and salt. Give a stir. Add little water and cover it with a lid. Add little water on the lid as well and let the moong dal cook for few minutes.
- Once the moong dal is cooked add the masala paste.
- Add little water and let everything come to a boil.
- Mugachi Amti is ready to be relished with hot steamed rice!
