MANILA - The representatives of the Hong Kong government and the victims of the 2010 Manila bus hostage crisis have accepted the apology of the city government of Manila, Councilor Bernardito Ang said on Thursday. "They are very happy na very sincere ang ginawa ng city government in passing a resolution and apologizing. Basically, tinatanggap nila yung apology," Ang said in an interview with ANC's "Top Story." Ang was referring to the resolution passed by the Manila City Council authorizing the city government to apologize to the people of Hong Kong. He said he gave assurance that tourists visiting Manila will be protected. The councilor said the victims' families now understand why the Manila city government is the only one apologizing, noting that the incident took place in the nation's capital. Meanwhile, Ang said the agreement regarding the amount of compensation to be given to the families of the victims is still "hanging." He said there are different demands for compensation.
