Officials of Hong Kong and Manila are meeting today in hopes of ironing out ties strained by the 2010 Manila hostage crisis. Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada arrived in Hong Kong Tuesday to offer Manila's apology as well as to give compensation to victims of the hostage crisis. Eight Hong Kong tourists died in the incident. In February, Hong Kong cancelled visa-free entry for Philippine officials and diplomatic passport holders over allegedly unmet demands of families of the victims. There are also fears the working visas of Filipinos in Hong Kong would not be renewed. ANC Dateline Philippines, April 23, 2014
