This time around, MUNROW'S RETRO takes us back to the world of 1960s cult films and 1990s darkwave rock. But first some background from the 1980s: "The Hunger" was one of my favorite films of the early 1980s. If it had not been for this classic vampire story starring the late David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve, and Susan Sarandon, I probably would never have heard of Bauhaus or gothic rock new wave. I became a more avid fan of the genre in the 1990s when I actually began purchasing goth rock and darkwave CDs. Of course subscribing to a monthly alternative rock VHS club helped keep me informed as well. So here is another Bauhaus cover, this time by deathrock band Ex Voto, called "Slice Of Life." This video is a tribute to the 1967 film, Eye Of The Devil, starring one of my favorite film actresses, Sharon Tate, as well as David Niven, Deborah Kerr, and Donald Pleasence (one of my most favorite character actors). The focus in this video is largely on Sharon Tate, although the others certainly get their appearances in again and again. So if you like cult occult films from the 60's, this Bauhaus song, and this fantastic band, Ex Voto, then this video is just right for you!
