Health Benefits Of Drinking Tea | When to drink tea? | Does tea have any negative effects?
Whether it’s green or black, hot or iced, tea is the second most-consumed drink in the world, only overtaken by water. I don’t think there is anyone out there who hasn’t at least once tried the brew made of the leaves of the tea shrub, in one form or another. And it also has some miraculous properties when consumed in the long run. No wonder – it was consumed as a medicinal drink in its place of origin, the South-West of China.
#What exactly is tea?
Tea is an aromatic beverage prepared by pouring hot water over the dried leaves of the Camellia Sinensis shrub (the tea shrub). Depending on the type of tea used, the resulting drink can have a color that ranges from white to black, and a variety of tastes.
The type of the drink is determined by the age at which the leaves are harvested – green tea is usually made from the younger leaves of the plant, while black tea from the more aged ones – and the type of processing the leaves undergo. The leaves are steamed and dried immediately after being harvested to prevent wilting and oxidation.
