Perfect your rhythm. Whether it is your first 5 km race or you are an experienced runner who has already run this distance on other occasions, an important tip is to "run at your own pace", that is, at your own pace, at the pace you were training. .

Whether it is your first race or not, try NOT TO START FASTER than you should, because sometimes, as we feel that it is a "short" race, we start super fast, with a much faster pace than we should. We have trained, and if we do not resume our pace soon, when we realize it we will have "thundered", that is, we used up all our energy at the start or the first kilometer, and for the following we no longer have anywhere to take energy.

One thing is that, due to the excitement of the start, sometimes we start faster than we are going to run (that happens to me), but if we do not correct quickly and start running at our own pace, it is very likely that let us exhaust all our energies at the start and, for the last kilometer, if not before, we no longer have energy to finish with.

When you are going to run 5 km you know more or less what pace you can run, which you have been training. Even if it is your first race, you know what your pace is and you should try to maintain it. If, for example, I know that I can sustain a pace of 6 min / km, then I must try to set that pace for each kilometer.

If they are marked every km on the road it is fine, but if not, almost all of us bring a watch with a heart rate monitor and GPS that automatically marks each km. In fact, to set the pace, it is better to pay attention to our clock than to the km signs on the road.

Since, sometimes, the latter are not well placed and could confuse us. But that should not happen, if we have been training at our race pace, we know how long it takes us to run one km, and we multiply that until we know how much we will have to do in the 5 km.
