In the late 1940s, William Branham changed his stage persona from a Pentecostal raised in Indiana to a Baptist raised in Kentucky. This was the version of his stage persona that would be recorded in history, though the story was nothing more than a fictional tale to capture the hearts and minds of his listeners. According to Branham, he, his mother, and his siblings – nine in all – lived together in the Kentucky log cabin.
Leaders of the revival never questioned Branham’s background. Worse, they never did the math on the ages of his siblings. According to US census records, all but one of his siblings were born in the state of Indiana, and Branham was a widower at the time they all lived together. He was correct, they did all live under the same roof, but it was not in a log cabin in Kentucky. After his wife died, Branham and his son Billy Paul moved in with is mother on 304 Maple Street in Jeffersonville. The ages of his siblings range from 18 to 25 years old.
