Heel pain can affect the bottom, side, or back of the heel. Usually, it is due to continual pressure or stress on the foot and can be very painful. The most common causes of heel pain are plantar fasciitis (bottom of the heel) and Achilles tendinitis (back of the heel). Achilles' tendonitis occurs when the tendon that attaches the calf muscles to the heel becomes painful or inflamed due to overuse injuries. Whereas, Plantar fasciitis is caused by inflammation or damage to the plantar fascia, which is the ligament that runs along the bottom of your foot. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Bashir, who is a consultant Orthopedic surgeon, has described the most common causes and symptoms of Heel Pain. How the heel pain can be treated and what are the cautions to avoid it, let us know in this video.
