Written while looking out our trailer window at a huge storm barreling down on us at Blue Creek Valley Farm sometime in 2004. Our big home on the hill behind the trailer was not yet built, nor was our upcoming divorce known by me.

My oldest made a simple statement: "Let the rain come down,” and I had the song. I knew we would be safe, but it was very scary there for a while. I once saw my flagpole out in the front yard bend straight down against the ground during a fierce wind.

I played guitar, mandolins, and sang. Kristin Kanady sang high harmony. Charles Smith came up to the farm from Salter Path and played bass on this song and several others. Mick Purdy played piano. Lovely little song that I almost did not include on the Salter Path “Will This Town Survive” CD album.
