People across the region will be heading to the polls this Thursday May 4 to cast their vote in local elections.

The Greater Manchester council elections are held three years in every four, usually in May, and councillors from each of the ten Boroughs will be battling it out for votes.

For the first time ever, voters will need a valid form of ID to obtain a ballot paper. This could be a passport, driving license, or a free Voter Authority Certificate.

We spoke to local people ahead of Thursday's elections.
