00:00 I may not be blonde, but today I've got a Rapunzel inspired hair and makeup look
00:05 for you. With Disney's Into the Woods out in theaters on December 25th, I'm
00:09 creating a wearable Rapunzel look, capturing her innocent look with that
00:13 signature braid. Here we go.
00:17 Now I'm not blonde and I also don't have super long hair, so I'm bringing in my
00:26 extra long extensions for this look. Now I'm not gonna need the single clip
00:30 pieces that go near my temples since I'm not wearing my hair down, so I'm sticking
00:33 to just the two, three, and four clips. The look that I'm creating looks like a
00:41 braid, but it's not actually a braid. I learned how to do this on the Luxie
00:44 Hair channel and I'll link the video down in the description box so you can
00:48 see the original tutorial, but I wore this look in another tutorial and a lot
00:52 of you guys were really loving it, so I thought it would be the perfect hairstyle
00:55 because it's easy, but it looks really dramatic. Now for this look you're gonna
01:04 need a bunch of these tiny little hair elastics. I'm using the clear ones, but
01:08 you can use colored ones according to your hair color. So I've clipped the
01:12 extensions in and I'm ready to pull it back. So I'm creating a really loose side
01:16 part in my hair first, then gathering all the hair to my left side and securing
01:20 with an elastic. And I'm also going to pin back some of that loose hair. So
01:34 after I brush the hair through to eliminate any tangles, I'm gonna separate
01:38 the ponytail into two sections, bottom and top.
01:43 Now taking the top section, I'm gonna secure one of the elastics around the
01:56 hair, leaving about two inches of open space. Taking my index finger, I'm gonna
02:07 part this section down the middle, creating a little hole, and then I'm
02:10 gonna take the bottom section and feed it through that little hole. And now that
02:20 section that I just brought forward, I'm gonna repeat this same exact thing. Put
02:24 the elastic around it, and then I'm gonna part it through the middle and just pull
02:29 the bottom section through once again. So really this looks like a braid, but it's
02:35 not really a traditional braid. So I'm just going to continue repeating this
02:41 all the way down to the bottom of the hair.
02:45 And again, just pull that through. As you can see, it's really easy once you get
02:54 the hang of it.
02:57 And I'm also going to take each part of the braid and pull it apart a little to
03:12 make it look a little more fat. So I'm just taking each piece on either side
03:16 and just pulling them apart. It's up to you really how fat you want to make it.
03:21 And now this part isn't necessary, but just to make it look finished, I'm gonna
03:25 put another elastic around the bottom part of the braid. And that's really it
03:31 for the hair. Now on to the makeup, but first I'm going to secure my loose
03:35 hair's back because I know you guys hate it when my hair is in my face. Now in the
03:41 film, Rapunzel has a very ethereal, glowy look to her makeup, so I'm gonna start
03:46 out with an illuminating cream first and apply this all over. This is just gonna
03:49 give my foundation a more radiant appearance. Next up, I'm taking my
03:54 foundation and applying this with my beauty blender.
03:59 And for my concealer, I'm gonna apply it with my fingers first in just the usual
04:09 spots, and then I'm gonna go back to my beauty blender and use that to just
04:13 blend it all out.
04:16 And of course I want to set all of this, so I'm gonna take my favorite powder ever
04:24 and give my skin a more airbrushed finish without taking too much of that
04:28 glow factor away. Now Rapunzel's cheeks are nice and rosy, so I'm gonna apply a
04:32 pretty bright blush to my cheeks. Normally I go for a fairly neutral shade,
04:36 but I want a nice pop of that soft color for this look. And keeping with that
04:41 glowing theme, I'm gonna apply a highlighter to the high points of my
04:45 cheekbones as well as my forehead.
04:49 I'm also going in with my finger and applying the highlighter to my Cupid's
04:58 bow and a little down the bridge of my nose. And now I'm taking my glowing
05:04 bronzer and adding some more warmth all over my face, and I'm just using that
05:08 same brush.
05:12 On to the eyes. First I'm applying this shimmery lavender shade all over my lids
05:19 up to my crease. I'm just pressing that color in.
05:24 And next I'm taking the deeper shimmery purple shade and applying this at the
05:34 outer corners of my eyes and slightly into my crease just for a little more
05:38 depth. And now with my blending brush, I'm just gonna take a regular bronzer and
05:46 just blend away the shadow at my crease for just a softer look. And I'm gonna be
05:51 blending all the way from the inner corner to the outer corner. And now using
05:57 this metallic silvery pewter shade, I'm just gonna highlight the inner corners
06:01 of my eyes just a little bit. And now for this look, I'm gonna be using a liquid
06:07 liner pen in black, and I'm focusing most of this at the halfway point and on. So
06:12 I'm just gonna thicken it up a bit toward the outer corners and create just
06:16 a slight flick at the end. And of course I'm gonna go back and just kind of
06:21 smooth it out.
06:24 and now I'm going in with my mascara and I'm gonna hit those top
06:42 and bottom lashes. And now you can leave it this way, but for a slightly more
06:50 youthful look like Rapunzel has in the movie, I'm gonna apply a very modest set
06:55 of half lashes at the outer corners just so it turns the eyes upward just a
07:00 little bit. Like I said, they're really subtle, they're not dramatic at all. And
07:05 of course I'm gonna polish up those brows just a little bit, but this time
07:09 I'm using a slightly lighter color than usual just so it doesn't look too
07:14 dramatic and dark. And finally for my lips, I'm going to apply a very soft and
07:24 slightly sheer pink shade. I'm sort of just trying to match Rapunzel's rosy
07:28 pout. And you can leave the lips this way or you can go over it with a pink gloss.
07:36 It's just gonna give it sort of the same color but just glossy. And that is it for
07:43 this Rapunzel inspired hair and makeup look. I hope you guys enjoyed it and do
07:47 not forget to check out Rapunzel in Disney's new film Into the Woods out in
07:51 theaters on December 25th. Love you guys, I'll see you soon.
