00:02 Hi, I'm Lauren Anderson, Avon's global celebrity makeup artist.
00:06 And today, I'm going to show you how to create a cat eye.
00:08 I'm going to use two products to do this.
00:10 I'm going to use Mega Effects liquid eyeliner and Mega Effects mascara.
00:14 So really quickly, I'm just going to prep her eyelids with a little bit
00:17 of pressed powder to make sure that the eyeliner doesn't move around
00:20 or travel.
00:22 This just mattifies the lid.
00:23 The easiest way to create a cat eye is to visualize
00:29 where your line is going to go ahead of time.
00:31 I like to follow the lower lash line and extend upward and outward.
00:35 Kind of lift the lid so it's nice and taut,
00:37 and then follow that angle upward, just sketching out a little flick.
00:42 So now that you have your flick, you're going to go ahead and connect this
00:51 to where the eyelid peaks.
00:53 Again, holding the skin tight, and then just following this line
00:58 at that angle towards the center.
01:00 Now that I've reached the highest point of the eyelid,
01:06 I want the line to become ultra thin as we're
01:08 going towards the center of the eyelid.
01:10 I'm stretching the inner corner and just making a barely there thin little line
01:19 and connecting it all.
01:22 One of the reasons I really love this pen
01:24 is because one side is really narrow and thin,
01:28 letting me get to little tight corners with a very thin line.
01:33 And then you reverse it and you have a nice thicker side,
01:37 allowing me to fill in and create these perfect, precise shapes.
01:43 With this cat eye, especially with a liquid liner,
01:49 you want it to look really crisp and perfect.
01:51 So a good trick that I've learned is using a flat angled skinny brush
01:56 with a tiny, tiny, tiny bit of makeup remover.
02:00 And you can go back in underneath your line and just edge it up.
02:06 And so then you have a really crisp line.
02:08 When creating a cat eye, it's really important
02:13 to work with the shape of your eye, not against it.
02:16 Here are a few different techniques to create the perfect cat
02:18 eye on three different eye shapes.
02:21 If you have downturned eyes, you don't
02:23 want to follow your full lash line.
02:25 You're going to want to stop a little bit short
02:27 and then cheat the flick up.
02:31 If you have a hooded eye, you lose the lash line
02:34 underneath the hood of the lid.
02:36 And so all that's really going to show is the flick.
02:38 So let's start from the outer corner of the lower lash line,
02:41 follow that invisible line upward, connect to the outer corner,
02:44 and that will give you the desired shape.
02:48 If you have a round eye, you have a higher peak.
02:51 So you want to create an extended line.
02:55 Follow this lower lash line, create your flick.
02:57 From this point to the highest point of the round eye, draw a straight line.
03:02 Fill in, and then connect with a very thin line.
03:06 So now that our eyeliner is complete, I'm
03:08 going to use Mega Effects mascara to bump up those lashes.
03:12 I love this applicator because it bends and moves.
03:16 And you're able to get right underneath the lashes.
03:19 So I go right underneath, getting close to the base of the lashes,
03:25 and just combing through in an outward, upward angle.
03:31 And you want to make sure to hit every lash to give you that panoramic volume.
03:36 With the short wand applicator, too, you have so much control.
03:39 You can get right in there.
03:40 A cat eye has always been a classic look.
03:45 It never is out of style.
03:47 It's always on trend.
03:48 The shape, the wing, the angle.
03:51 And there, in two steps, you have the perfect cat eye.
