00:26 These two amazing creatures are larger than grizzly bears and are some of the top marine predators.
00:32 But only one of them can be the winner of the 16th episode of Animal Battle.
00:37 Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to present you our two competitors.
00:42 The Leopard Seal versus the Stellar Sea Lion.
00:47 Also don't miss the end because I will announce the winner of the last Animal Battle between the Coyote and the Red Fox.
00:54 Let's do it! I am Mario and this is Animal Battle.
00:59 [Music]
01:06 These two animals are very powerful, but the winner of this battle isn't necessarily the stronger one.
01:12 So we are going to evaluate our two competitors based on six different characteristics.
01:16 Agility, Attack, Defense, Intelligence, Bonus Skill and Survival.
01:22 Ready? Let's start with Agility.
01:25 You might have heard that the difference between a seal and a sea lion is that sea lions have smaller ears and seals don't have external ears.
01:34 But that is only a minor difference. They differ a lot more in the way they move in water and on land.
01:41 Stellar sea lions are pretty fast and agile swimmers, reaching speeds of up to 27 km/h.
01:48 They are slower on land but are still way faster than leopard seals because they can walk on their flippers.
01:54 Leopard seals need to bounce or crawl in order to move on land, but that is because they are better adapted for swimming than sea lions are.
02:04 They are extremely agile swimmers due to their large front flippers and can reach speeds in water of up to 37 km/h.
02:12 Also, they can dive deeper than 80 meters in search for food. So let's see their agility stats.
02:19 So their stats are quite high because they can move both on land and in water.
02:28 But having such adaptations means that they can't reach very high speeds in either environment, but maybe they can make up for that with their power.
02:38 So we are going to move on to attack and defense stats.
02:42 Leopard seals are pretty large, reaching up to 3.5 meters in length and weighing up to 600 kg, which is larger than a grizzly bear.
02:52 Stellar sea lions can be even larger though.
02:56 While females can reach up to 2.9 meters in length and weigh up to 350 kg, male sea lions can reach 3.25 meters in length and weigh more than a ton.
03:08 So their massive bodies need a lot of food, and they are pretty good at hunting.
03:13 Leopard seals are the terror of all the penguins from Antarctica because they can hunt a lot of types of penguins, from a deli to king and emperor penguins.
03:24 Sometimes they can try chasing them on land or they can wait until penguins take a dive.
03:30 Penguins try to make a run for it, but the leopard seal attacks and the meal is served.
03:37 They have a massive head and jaw and can crunch the prey with its 2.5 cm long canine teeth.
03:44 They can also forage for krill, squid and fish and can sometimes kill other types of seals.
03:52 But they need to watch out for killer whales or sharks, because they are still not much for them.
03:58 Stellar sea lions are also impressive hunters.
04:02 They can prey on fish, squids, octopuses and sometimes they can prey on other seals or otter pups.
04:10 And after they are done eating they can celebrate with an intimidating roar.
04:21 But it is still not intimidating enough to keep larger predators like orcas and sharks away.
04:27 Are you ready to see their attack and defense stats?
04:30 They have high attack and defense stats and it is hard to decide which one is better,
04:39 because stellar sea lions are larger while leopard seals are more ferocious hunters with a powerful bite.
04:45 It is time to move on to bonus skills.
04:48 Leopard seals and stellar sea lions have whiskers to sense their environment.
04:53 Stellar sea lions are very social and may rest in large groups.
04:57 Living in groups is a nice bonus because they have a better chance against predators,
05:02 hunt easier and can stay together to keep their bodies warm.
05:06 But they don't have organized groups like wolves do, so it is not that big of an advantage.
05:12 Leopard seals are mostly solo and the only thing that keeps them warm in the cold arctic waters
05:18 is their thick layer of blubber which also helps them be more hydrodynamic.
05:23 So their bonus skill stats are

05:25 Decent enough.
05:31 Now let's go to their intelligence stats.
05:34 Being predators they are both quite intelligent.
05:37 Leopard seals have been observed playing with penguins and, in one case,
05:42 a leopard seal was giving dead penguins to a National Geographic photographer,
05:46 which could mean that the seal was teaching him to hunt.
05:50 Stellar sea lions can show off their intelligence during shows.
05:54 They can be easily trained and can learn to do all sorts of tricks.
05:58 So how high are their intelligence stats?
06:06 They are pretty high and last but not least are their survival stats.
06:11 Both of them give birth to one pup at a time which will have a lifespan of about 25 years in the wild.
06:18 Leopard seals are listed as the least concerned species,
06:21 with an estimated number of 18,000 mature individuals in the wild.
06:26 Stellar sea lions are listed as the near threatened species
06:30 after their population has increased a lot in the last decades.
06:34 But now their population is recovering and there are about 80,000 mature individuals in the wild.
06:41 So let's see their final stats.
06:43 As you can see they have pretty high agility, attack, defense and intelligence stats.
06:53 Stellar sea lions being slightly better at bonus skills and leopard seals at survival.
06:58 Now the question is who is the winner?
07:01 Well it is up to you because you can vote the winner of this episode in the poll right there
07:06 and leave your opinions in the comments down below.
07:08 Also tell your friends, parents and most importantly tell your babushka to smash that subscribe button
07:14 because it would make Spike very happy and we will not rest until we beat both Pewdiepie and T-series.
07:20 Very nice. It is time to announce the winner of the last battle between the coyote and the red fox.
07:28 So after counting all the votes the winner is

07:34 The coyote!
07:36 But don't be upset if you wanted the red fox to win because here on I am from animals we love and respect all animals.
07:45 So once again don't forget to vote the winner of this episode battle in the top right corner
